Pet care experience
Having grown up with cats and dogs since a young child I've developed a genuine love for most animals (other than an irrational dislike for guinea pigs... don't ask me why)! I own a GSP named Bali who's not yet two, so I'm very much acute to puppy and adolescent dog behaviours currently. Other dogs I've either grown up with, looked after, or regularly walk include Cockapoos, Staffies, a Dogue de Bordeuax/Mastiff/Rottie cross, Golden Retrievers, Labradors, Doberman, Vizsla's, Bichon Frise, Pomeranian and a Sprocker Spaniel. A real mix! And when it comes to cats, I've had the pleasure of either owning or looking after moggies, a Birman Blue, a rescued feral cat (I hand fed him for a year and he's now the most loving boy ever, living with my parents) and a few Maine-coon cross.
Reviews
Madeleine was amazing with Lenny. Came round initially to visit and see if they both got on and they did! We booked Madi for a 30 min drop in visit. She was more than happy to feed Lenny when she popped in, tried taking him for a walk then played some games in the garden. She sent us pictures after the visit letting us know how it went and always kept us updated!
Madeleine was so easy to contact. She made my 4month old puppy tired from the hour that she was there which minimised the mess she made before me and my partner gets home. Madeleine sent me photos of her and Juni on a walk and some enrichment activities - really appreciate you!
Madeleine was absolutely great with our hyper boy. She is a pet whisperer and instantly bonded with Bear. She ensured we were notified of every walk with the route she took and took a picture of our boy every walk which was really nice to see during our time away. 😊 wouldn’t Hesitate to reach out to Madeleine in near future
Maddie looked after our whippet Gus on our wedding day and we can't thank her enough. She was absolutely fantastic and gave us such peace of mind that Gus was being so well looked after. She even brought him to the registry office to be in some of our photos. Highly recommend!

I'm not yet offering home-boarding from my home until Bali is a little older and less-excitable around new dogs. I have friends dogs, or dogs she knows well, to stay as we have a secure garden with high fences, situated in a relatively quiet new-build estate surrounded by walking paths and green fields. In another owner's home I like to meet the owner and pet prior to the 'sitting' to get a feel for them both (and vice versa) and to run through a detailed questionnaire including food, medicines, walking styles/habits, toilet breaks, any quirks, attitudes towards other animals e.g. reactive to other dogs and so on. It's also the time for the owner to make sure they're 100% happy with me either in their house, looking after their furry family member, or both. I like to provide owners with regular updates, including photos and videos, however if anything specific is required (I've had a FaceTime request before), then just let me know. Equally, if you don't want updates, that's totally fine too.

Information Madeleine N. would like to know about your pet
I won't let a dog off-lead until we've got to know eachother and built our trust, unless we're in a secure field (I can book these ahead of time for an additional fee). Important things for me to know include: - triggers e.g. cats/squirrels/birds/small dogs - reactivity to other dogs/people/environments - any ailments e.g. hip or elbow issues requiring soft-ground for walks/short walks - general commands the dog knows e.g. Bali has certain commands for heel, recall & when approaching roads - whether a specific walking style is required e.g. halti/harness/muzzle
A typical day
Owning an excitable gundog I've mastered many ways of exercising her both mentally and physically; from scent work and games, dummy retrieves, ball chase, learning new tricks/commands, to long walks, hikes, short heel-based walks, pack walks, and exploring all the scents in new places. Bali is handfed so every meal time is an opportunity to enhance her training. She also doesn't have any set-routine so we can mix up walks - areas/lengths/types of walk i.e. off-lead/on-lead as much as possible. Whatever your dog requires, I'm sure I can accommodate.

I'm a self-employed mortgage adviser so my schedule is totally flexible. I work via email/phone/Zoom, so I'm not required face-to-face with any clients, and can work from anywhere, which makes life a lot easier when pet-sitting. Bali has a flexible schedule with either 1, 2 or 3 walks a day depending on the type of walk, any training we do (most days), playtime or how she's feeling in general. Some days she just wants to chill (surprising for a GSP)! I have a partner so I'm able to leave Bali at home with him anytime, especially when staying at owner's houses or walking dogs that require a solo walk/visit.
