Pet care experience
I hold an AAS in Animal Management - which means I'm a trained zookeeper! It is my job to understand animal behavior, and I've been professionally caring for all species of animals in a variety of settings for several years. I work for our local SPCA chapter and routinely handle cats, dogs, and exotics that have come from every type of situation. Basic care for your cat or dog plus lots of fun and playtime would be an absolute honor and a breeze! I've been working with animals in a professional setting for close to ten years, but I've been providing general care to animals and pet sitting for much longer. I also have experience working as a veterinary assistant, which means I can provide basic grooming and administer medications if necessary, so you don't have to worry about your pet missing any routine care while you're away. I also have a strong understanding of animal training and creating training plans. Anything you've been working on with your pet, I can easily adhere to so that there's never a gap in their learning! Above all else, it's my absolute joy to care for animals, and I'd be so happy to care for yours and give you peace of mind that your best friends are safe, comfortable, and happy in your absence!
Reviews
Maddy has looked after my cats twice now over the past couple months, while I’ve been out of town. The most recent trip was only a couple days, but for the first one, I was out of the country for about a week and a half. It was the longest I’d ever been away from my babies in the 5 or so years they’ve been in my life. As excited as I was for my vacation, I was dreading the thought of leaving my little family behind. I actually cried on the way to the airport. 😅 I had never hired a babysitter/house-sitter before, so I was quite nervous. But moreover, I just felt so guilty, like I was abandoning them… (Some context, briefly: Taco Bella + Jack are both rescues and each have their fair share of little quirks and concerns, e.g., anxiety, attachment/abandonment issues, misplaced aggression, etc.). I shared what I was feeling with Maddy and she was so kind to me. She empathized with my experience completely and provided lots of reassurance that my little ones were in good hands. Throughout the trip, Maddy sent lots of photos and text updates. She truly went above and beyond, swinging by after work to check on them a second time, bringing up packages, taking out my recycling!… She was happy to administer a daily antibiotic that Jack needed for an infection. She promptly brought behavioral concerns to my attention, and really just seemed to intuitively understand what both of my guys needed. It was obvious Maddy had really taken the time to read through Taco + Jacks’ bios and my lengthy instructions in advance of the visit. She completely put me at ease, allowing me to really enjoy my adventure overseas, worry-free. I can’t recommend Maddy enough. She is wholly reliable and an excellent communicator. Her credentials speak for themselves, but she truly is a pro. I trust her completely with my babies and home both. We hope to be able to keep her on as a regular/recurring sitter for a long time to come. :)
Excellent communication, pictures, and updates!
Maddie was the best pet sitter! She did a great job walking our slightly unruly 90lb dog, gave the fluffs plenty of cuddles, got some playtime in with our cats and sent us plenty of pictures! She left our place cleaner than when she got here. I have zero hesitations having her watch our pets!
Madeline was great! Cleo was nervous to go with her but she was very patient and even walked her a little longer.

I'm not currently offering boarding pets in my own home! I'm full up with my own animals. But regarding caring for them in your personal home: As long as I'm given direction and communication on where certain things are (leashes, necessary keys, etc.) and I'm given the correct tools, I'll have no issues following your pet care plan that you wish to implement while you're away. I always make my own presence scarce, keep things tidy, and treat every home with respect as if it's my own!
Information Madeleine D. would like to know about your pet
If your dog has any medical conditions or medications I should know about - please let me know! Any behavioral information about their interactions with other animals while we're out walking is extremely helpful and will help keep your pet, and other pets and people safe! Do they have favorite toys? Favorite treats? Allergies? Are you working on training certain behaviors that you'd like me to know about or continue working on with them? All of this information is helpful so that I can give them the best care.
A typical day
Our day will be super play based so we can distract your pet from how much they're probably missing you! If it's a nice day, a long walk around Delaware Park would be my first choice, or leisurely walks around Elmwood Village or wherever your neighborhood is located. I always carry collapsible dishes and water, and if they have any favorite toys, we'll bring those too! If the weather isn't on our side, lots of toys and playtime at home will be our best bet.
