Go out hiking - come home pooped!

Pet care experience

Hi I'm Maddie! My experience with animals is endless. I have owned animals all my life, and I work with animals both in a professional matter and less so on a daily basis. I am a recent CSU graduate with the potential of going into veterinary medicine one day. I work with a variety of organizations taking care of animals including the Fort Collins Cat Rescue/Spay & Neuter Clinic and the CSU Vet Teaching Hospital. I have some vet knowledge from working with fosters for the past 4 years, and I previously cared for a variety of pets with the Pets Forever program daily with duties including dog walking, grooming, veterinary assistance, some training, and cat care. I live on the east side of Fort Collins near I-25 for easy drop off and pick up from work! I have three very dog savvy cats and they love all animals and people. I also have a great crazy pup Jade who is excellent with other animals. She is a huge sweetheart, although a bit energetic and playful still! I own a townhome that has a lot of space for your pets to roam, as well as large field space and many paths outside for extra exercise and fun. Want to drop your dog off for some play time and exercise? I take dogs out hiking in the local Lory State Park, where we can run and explore for hours! Ask me about specialty hike days and to arrange an adventure for your pup! Availability I currently work as a emergency veterinary technician in the clinical pathology lab at the CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital. I switch between days and nights, and am able to adapt to various situations. I have very open availability for the month of October 2017, so bring your pets and relax a bit! Meet my pets I have three cats: Oliver, Meeko, and Opal. The three get along great with other animals and are very adaptable. :) I also have a guinea pig named Mylo, and an adopted 3yo BLM Mustang named Snickers! My experience administering medication Yes. I give medication and vaccines at least once every other week to fosters. I can administer medications orally or through injection and I have some limited vet knowledge for animals. Have larger pets? I also have experience working with larger animals such as horses, chickens, rams/sheep, and pet cattle. Ask me for more information on potentially helping pet sit your small farm!

Madelaine did great taking care of our older dogs which included giving them medications. We recommend that Madelaine let folks know if she is going to visit the dogs late in the evening (after midnight). We were concerned that the dogs were not going to be visited.

Maddy was great with Max, who has separation anxiety. I can highly recommend.

Josie appears to have a good time and was in good spirits when we picked her up.

Madeleine was incredible with our dog, Chloe. Madelaine is so sweet and sent us pictures and little updates daily. We highly recommend her!

Information Madelaine R. would like to know about your pet

How old is your dog? Does he or she get along well with others (dogs, cats, people)? Are there any health concerns I should be aware of? Is there anything else special I should know (such as play habits, need of exercise, feeding times...etc.)?

A typical day

Interested in sending your dog off on an adventure? Try hiking with us! If you have a high energy, super friendly, and well-behaved dog (or would like to train your dog to go out), send them here to come out hiking! I have a huge passion for hiking and getting out when the weather permits. My dog is an excellent trail dog and loves to go out with others. We have year-round access to Lory State Park in Fort Collins and can bring up to 2 additional dogs to have an adventure! Just let me know your dogs physical abilities, and about their previous history and training. If you want a more laid back visit, we have plenty of paths and natural areas right here at home! Dogs can go for short walks around the block, or take a trip on a quiet trail around the area. I can accomodate to any of your needs! Your dog's sleeping arrangement Unless you have special arrangements for your pup (such as crating etc.), they can stay up with me in the master bedroom! Time I'll spend with your dog I will give them all the free time I have! Want to brush up on recent training? I can assist in working with your dog while they are here. We have trained through many dog classes and I have worked a bit in canine behavior (I am NOT certified, however). I would be happy to help work on any recent training your dog has received or give them fun activities to get their minds going!
