Adventure & Dog lover!
Pet care experience
Hi, I’m Mackenzie! I was born and raised in the Adirondacks and I love doing all things outdoors, preferably with a furry friend by my side. I have a special place in my heart for Australian Shepherds and Border Collies (yes, the high energy, adventurous, wild and crazy breeds) and have deeply loved every moment of life with my current Aussie (Strider) and my late Aussie girl (Grace). I love getting to bring pups on adventures and have enjoyed many 15+ mile hikes, trail runs, as well as bike and ski adventures with my pups. I also love training dogs, whether it’s to improve recall or teach a new trick, I think every dog deserves to feel like they get to live their best life physically and mentally. Over the past few years, I have become the primary dog sitter for my friends and neighbors, getting to know different breeds, temperaments, and athletic abilities. It’s been so fun! So whether your pup is a couch potato or up for a crazy adventure, I’m here to help your pup enjoy their best life! Double check with me about pricing. If you are nearby my rates may be a tad lower, and if it’s far away it may be a bit higher (gas is expensive, y’all! Thank you!! 🩵
Reviews
Mackenzie was on time, accommodating to slight changes, and a pleasure to work with. My dog also loved her, and greatly enjoyed the walks & play time they shared. It was also comforting to receive pictures & videos of him throughout the day. I would highly recommend her services.
We owe Mackenzie a lot of thanks for taking such good care of our dog while we were skiing. She was super professional and communicative. Also, she was always on time when picking up and dropping off our dog. It made our ski trip so convenient because we didn’t have to worry about our dog feeling lonely in the hotel. What’s more, Mackenzie took our dog for two 6-miles hikes which our dog enjoyed. Overall, we’re very impressed with Mackenzie’s care of our dog and we are super grateful for her help. We strongly recommend her!
Mackenzie is a fantastic dog sitter - she watched our two Great Pyrenees mixes last weekend and we immediately felt like she was the perfect fit for our dogs. She had experience with reactivity and understood what they needed to have a successful day, and asked all of the right questions. Mackenzie is a great communicator, she was flexible when we needed to adjust our start/end times, and the pups really seemed so comfortable and happy to be with her. I would not hesitate to book her again!
Mackenzie is amazing!!! Oreo had the best day ever and had the opportunity to venture through Lake Placid. Thank you again for taking such good care of our fur baby. ❤️

When I am on trail with pups I honor the owners requests about if they want their dog leashed the entire time. If you like your dog to be off-leash I will first test your dogs recall with me a few times and throughout our time on trail. I will always be cautious of noting if other dogs are on the trail; I know the trails here quite well in the ADK and can choose which places are best for your dog’s temperament and athletic ability. In terms of going to a clients home, I just want to understand your dog’s health and habits (do they get into food and stuff, do they need any medicine, etc). I am very attentive to making sure your dog is safe and has their exercise, potty, food, and attention needs met. Thanks!

Information Mackenzie H. would like to know about your pet
Temperament. How is your dog on trail if he encounters people or off leash dogs? How much exercise is good for your dog (maximum and minimum amount)? Do you prefer your dog on leash or off when on trail? How is your dogs recall? How is your pup at home (settled, anxious, mischievous?) I like getting to know each pup and asking the right questions for whatever the pup and I will be doing while we are together.
A typical day
I love walking, running, hiking, biking, and swimming! All things adventure! Ideally I walk/run a total of 7-12 miles a day, usually split up into a few walks or runs. In between those walks or runs I work on my business as an emotional health coach. For me, if I am watching a dog for a full day it is best if they are able to walk a fair amount or can be left for an hour so I can go walk (I have the energy of an Australian Shepherd…) :)

My schedule is flexible. I won’t always be able to say yes to each request since I have another job with inconsistent hours, but when I am free I will be there with all my heart!
