With my dog I trained him first on leash with classes. Continued his training after graduation. As a pup I took him to all the places i could get him into. Made sure he met all kinds of dogs and people at a young age to get him more comfortable and confident. Started walking him on a 30 inch leash as his max allowed to be apart from me. He went through an intro class of off leash training and I continued that training when we went on a walk, or someplace with people or activity to stimulate his brain a bit. Sometimes we would stay at home and I'd make hime stay in his place until I tell him otherwise. I taught him to not be treat dependent. He listens to my commands and then we play as the reward. He is a high energy dog. We take him on 4 mile walks which will consist with training, playing, running, walking, playing with other dogs off leash. These walks are the best thing for him to have fun in a controlled and safe environment.
