I have been a dog lover my entire life, and a dog owner for 50 years. Rottweiler's, German Shepherd's and many beautiful Mutts. As an 11 year shelter volunteer where I'm the official "dog cuddler" I have fostered over 75 precious furbabies, many who had special needs. My shelter director and fellow volunteers call me the "miracle worker" as I help these poor scared little souls gain their trust and become happy, tail wagging, kissy face pups. There is no better feeling. On weekends you would find me driving 4hrs with my SUV loaded with crates on my usual "leg" transporting/saving lives from high kill shelters in the southern states. Circumstances found me moving from my beloved shelter, fostering & transporting. Needless to say I'm so missing my role. I am a active, fit 60 year old that enters many 5k walks. I have a cheery, positive, loving and feel laughter can cure just about anything. I run on faith, love the outdoors, and not afraid of the Western NY weather. I find such joy in every dog I encounters and feel richer for it. We seem to just click. I tend to watch a dogs body language and go from there, baby talk, slow going, etc. Through the last few years I have taken on line courses including Vet Tech Assistant, Pet First Aid, Dog Behavior & Training, also Dog Cognition and Emotion through Duke University. While your furbaby is in my care, I will clean up after him/her, feed, refresh water, keep food dishes clean, play, walk, light grooming, cuddle! But above all this It will be my pleasure to love and care for your furbaby as it was my own.
