Happy Home for Happy Pets

Pet care experience

Hello we are fun, loving, and active family of 4. It includes my 6 year old, 19 month old, husband, and myself. We have a strong passion for taking care of animals and have an incredible work ethic. I'm a full-time nanny, part-time Dog Walker/Sitter, and full-time mom. With the flexibility of my job it allows me to be home the majority of the day during weekdays caring for human babies and fur babies during the weekends. During weekends I'm usually home all day to just play and have fun with our temporary family dog members unless I have a small errand to do. I've had many different pets growing up at my parents house from fish to hamsters, birds, and 5 chihuahuas. Our eldest dog was epileptic and needed oral medication daily so I have about 10 years of experience giving oral medication. I developed a passion for taking care of animals at an early age and still strive to one day become a vet tech. I am proud to say I was able to house train our dogs within 3 days and teach them a few simple commands though I am NOT a professional trainer. I've been hosting family and neighbor dogs for years and I am now back and trying to expand since my son is older and baby girl wants to get out to the see the world. My husband also grew up with a dog so we miss having that extra furry family member to cuddle with at night. Since we are not ready to have one of our own at the moment we thought dog hosting was an amazing way to still be able to show our love and affection to dogs. We now live in complex in a two bedroom apartment that is close to parks and trails. We also have an amazing dog park right in front of our apartment that is for residents to use. I love to take my children out to the Iron Horse Trail for walks in the stroller and would welcome your dog to enjoy it with us. My kids know how to properly pet animals as he knows to be gentle so that is not a worry. All dogs MUST be absolutely amazing with small children. They need to be ok with kids running around and playing. I have carpet so they MUST be potty trained. Because we live in a complex we cannot have a dog that barks excessively (at every noise outside, knocking at the door, etc) or excessive whining. I allow dogs on my bed and couch. We have an amazing completely fenced dog park in your complex which happens to be right in front of our apartment. Due to this your dog must be dog friendly as well. I highly recommend Meet-n-Greets so that all parties are comfortable with each other. Please don't hesitate to contact me with questions and/or explain your situation. I try my best to accommodate all and be as flexible as possible. I do dog walking as well and will usually only accept dogs on the smaller side but will take a large dog if it's great on leash. The reason for this is because I am a petite woman and I really don’t want to be dragged lol. I will not walk with more than 3 dogs at a time just because I like to give each one special attention and quality time they deserve. Pick ups must be no later than Sunday evening. I know how hard it can be to leave family members behind but I am that one trustworthy person to keep them safe and happy while you're busy. I'll update you daily through messages and pictures to ease your worry. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. We can't wait to have furry friends over.

I'm always a little nervous leaving my dog, in case he gets anxious or won't settle, but Lydia was totally calm, which really helped. Freddy settled down quickly after I left and she even said he was the best dog she had looked after (that's defintiely a first!). I am so impressed she can look after others' dogs as well as her own small children. It was a very successful visit and it really helped me that she was able to take him without much notice. Thanks!

Really happy with the stay, Lydia was incredibly flexible and Harper was super happy with her visit! Tons of cute photos and videos, and she clearly showed that her first focus was our dog being safe and happy and healthy. Will definitely want to have our girl stay with her again.

Information Lydia G. would like to know about your pet

I don't have breed preferences but because I have young children I can only accept pets with good history and they absolutely must be child friendly. For example has never bitten or nipped, good on leash if needs exercise, no food or toy aggression. I would just ask to know how they behave on a normal day and their tendencies.
