Experienced, reliable and trustworthy care

Pet care experience

Hi there, Over my lifetime I have owned and cared for a number of different animals including dogs, cats, horses, and small furries. I have an unfaltering connection with animals but dogs hold a special place in my heart as they bring me so much happiness. I’ve always preferred dogs to humans, and consider my own boy my best friend! I currently look after and walk dogs of my family and friends, and take great pride and joy in doing so. I am competent in puppy care and will adapt to the needs of dogs of any breed and age with a lifetime of experience behind me. Since rehoming my ‘staffador’ from the Blue Cross, I’ve learnt so much about dog behaviour through training courses as he came with his own set of unique behaviours. I understand how anxious pawrents can be trusting a stranger to walk their dog, especially if they have their own quirks, and I am more than happy to continue and participate in any training you have started with your dog on walks and during care. The safety of your dog is my priority out in public and within your home. To tell you about me; I’m a midwife but have recently taken a step back from this, which gives me all the time in the world for your pets. Thanks to this career I have thorough knowledge of medication and medical care, which although is not based on animals, provides me with competence in administering any medications, or providing simple medical care for your pets in your absence. I’m on the search for a new career path, but until that happens I’m extremely flexible and can work around what suits you and your dog best.

Lydia is an extremely trustworthy and responsible person. She is fantastic with animals but has a particular affinity with dogs. She is kind, friendly & professional and best of all our dog adores her. She understands how to communicate with & train dogs and commits herself to them entirely. I would recommend her wholeheartedly to anyone looking for dog care.

Lydia is a trustworthy, hard working individual, who never strays from the task at hand. She is completely committed to whatever she sets her mind too. She is caring and even tempered, and has grown into a very responsible adult. She loves animals and always puts their needs in front of her own.

Due to the unpredictable nature of my own dog and his specific training needs, he will be kept separate from my services, unless we know our dogs would be a match. I will walk your dog(s) on their own, and am only able to sit them in your own home, and not my own. However I find this is always more comforting for your dogs to remain in their own home with their own smells and belongings whilst you’re away.

Information Lydia F. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know about your dogs own behaviour on walks around other dogs and people to ensure their safety and others. My own dog can be weary and reactive towards certain dogs, and objects in the every day, so I’m very aware of body language and how to avoid situations that may cause reactive behaviour. I have recently completed a reactive training course with my dog and know many tips and tricks on walks if your dog has similar issues. Please also let me know of any pre existing medical conditions or allergies.

A typical day

Most of the regular dogs I care for are large breeds with high energy and require plenty of stimulation. I’m used to taking long walks in the countryside in my home village of Weston, where there are plenty of open fields to run in. I’m more than happy to take a ball out for chasing and catching, and also know some great swimming spots if your dog loves a paddle.
