Pet sitting by an experienced dog trainer

Pet care experience

I am a qualified Guide Dog trainer with 9 years experience training dogs for people with a visual impairment. I have also worked with a range of animals for over 20 years. This includes three years as an RSPCA welfare officer providing advice for people in looking after their domestic pets including dogs, cats and horses. I also have a degree in animal management giving me a huge range of knowledge and professional experience of looking after animals. I have also owned pet dogs, cats, rats, hamsters and even a lizard! Animals have been my life and I thoroughly enjoy caring for them and am confident in looking after all breeds and temperaments of dogs. I am able to provide whatever your pet needs including varied lengths and number of walks, play time at home, administer medications etc. I am also happy to discuss any dog training requests for an additional fee. I will take good care of your pets and home while you are away and will provide regular photos and updates (apologies in advance for the occasional shameless dog selfie!). Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. For boarding in your home I am happy to help make sure that there is as little disruption to your pets routines as possible. I am able to feed them and provide walks at whatever specified times they are used to. For doggy day care I currently only offer this service either at my Greenwich flat or from your home which is ideal if you want to keep your dog(s) in a routine and would rather they stay in their home environment. Additionally they will get two walks (if required) during the day. I only provide day care for two dogs maximum per day at my property so your dog will get plenty of attention. This also means they will be walked without lots of other dogs so great for any dogs that don’t always play well with others. However, if your dog is sociable we’ll always find friends in the park! Doggy day care at your dogs home is only available to one household of dogs per day so my focus will only be on your dog(s) and I am more than happy to book regular days e.g every Wednesday and Friday. I am flexible as to location and can provide this service anywhere in London. Dog walking is available in the Greenwich, Deptford, New Cross, Blackheath and surrounding local areas.

I couldn't speak highly enough of Luke after his recent sit with Alfie and Apryl and would heartily recommend him to anyone seeking a sitter. His naturally calm manner, combined with lengthy experience working at Guide Dogs for the Blind, seemed to put A&A at ease straight away and remove any nerves they, or we, had. Despite being larger dogs with differing personalities and walking styles Luke won them both over and his extensive knowledge meant we could be reassured that the pups were in safe hands. Roll on the next sit!

A glowing review! Luke has been a perfect dog walker and sitter over the last few weeks as he came for a few walks to get to know our terrier Edie before sitting for her for nearly a week. He clearly has a way with dogs and was careful and gentle in approaching Edie when she seemed a bit suspicious of him. Before we went away he was very attentive listening to our notes about the house and Edie’s schedule. While we were away he sent us updates on their activities and clarified any questions he had. On our return the house was perfectly tidy and Edie perfectly relaxed. I absolutely recommend Luke and we’ve already booked him again!

Luke sat for our 3 dogs and 1 young cat over New Year and it all went very well indeed. Luke didn’t have an opportunity to meet the animals before his visit and timings were such that we only met each other via a video call. Fortunately Luke is a good communicator and we exchanged all the relevant info about the pets and the house via the Rover.com site or direct messaging once the booking dates were confirmed. Unsurprisingly there were a number of follow up queries between us after the sit had started but always sensible questions from Luke that couldn’t have been anticipated before we left for our holiday. The house was clean and tidy when we returned and Luke had thoughtfully put his bed linen in the wash before heading off. This was my first Rover.com booking and Luke and the platform both impressed me. I would definitely contact both again.

Please let me know any information you feel is important about your dog. A typical day

I am very much an outdoors person so love going on long walks. My favourite places to go in London are Greenwich park or up to Hampstead Heath but London has loads of other amazing parks for great walks. I also love to play with dogs at home with their favourite toys and games and am happy to have chill out time once they’re tired out too.
