Dogs' best friend

Pet care experience

I am a dog person for sure. I’ve taken care of dogs of every kind since I was 8. I had my own dog Bug (Golden Retriver) since 2015/11/14.

Luke was excellent! Very kind and communicative. Sent lots of photos and videos during my dog’s stay. He readily adapted to all of my dog’s needs. I wouldn’t hesitate to use him again.

Luke is absolutely amazing! He sent many pictures of my dog each day, enjoying walks, relaxing in the house and playing with his wonderful dog in their back yard! I got stuck another day away because of weather and Luke graciously understood and made it very easy! 100% will use Luke again!

I give dogs lots of affection, encouragement, patience, and structure. We teach dogs to follow our lead by consistently rewarding calm behavior (with treats, affection, and praise) and not rewarding anxious or dominating behaviors. I also only host pups that are toilet trained.

Health and Medical Information: Being aware of the dog's health conditions, allergies, vaccination history, and any ongoing medications or treatments is crucial. It's also important to have the contact details of their veterinarian for emergencies. Behavioral Traits and Temperament: Understanding the dog's behavior and temperament helps in providing appropriate care. Information about their socialization level, fears, anxieties, and interactions with other animals and people allows for a tailored and positive experience. Daily Routine and Care Instructions: Knowing the dog's daily routine, including feeding times, exercise needs, and specific care instructions, minimizes stress and maintains continuity. Details like preferred walking routes, commands, and favorite toys or treats create a familiar and comfortable environment. Leash and Training Requirements: Understanding how the dog behaves on a leash and responding to specific training commands ensures safe and effective walks. Knowledge of leash restrictions, behavioral challenges, or training techniques provided by the owner is essential for the dog's well-being and walk safety. Contact Information and Emergency Procedures: Having the owner's and alternative emergency contacts' information is crucial for unforeseen situations or questions. Awareness of specific emergency procedures or protocols from the owner is also important. By gathering these essential details beforehand, I can provide the best possible care for the dog, ensuring their comfort, safety, and overall well-being. Effective communication with the dog owner is vital to address any concerns or questions, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for both the dog and the owner.

A typical day

When it comes to caring for dogs, my primary focus is on providing engaging and enjoyable activities that keep them entertained and mentally stimulated. Below are some of the activities I love doing with the dogs I take care of: Playtime in the great outdoors: I organize interactive play sessions like fetch, tug-of-war, or frisbee in secure and spacious areas such as yards or local parks. This allows the dogs to expend their energy while having a blast. Nature walks and hikes: Taking dogs on nature trails and scenic walks offers both physical and mental enrichment. They get to experience new sights and smells while staying active and connecting with the natural world. Social outings to dog parks: For sociable dogs who enjoy the company of others, I take them to dog parks where they can interact, play, and socialize with other canine friends in a safe environment. Positive reinforcement obedience training: Engaging in basic obedience exercises not only reinforces good behavior but also provides mental stimulation and strengthens the bond between the dogs and myself as their caregiver. When selecting places for walks, I am meticulous about choosing locations that are safe and stimulating for the dogs. This could include nearby parks, nature trails, or quiet residential areas with sidewalks and green spaces. Safety is a top priority, so I consider factors like traffic, leash regulations, and the dogs' comfort level in different environments. Ultimately, my goal is to cater to the individual needs, energy levels, and preferences of each dog in my care. Regular exercise, mental stimulation, and socialization play vital roles in ensuring a well-rounded and enjoyable experience for them under my watchful eye.

As someone who works from home, dog care is an integral part of my daily and weekly routine. Having furry companions brings so much joy and comfort to my WFH experience, and I prioritize their well-being alongside my work responsibilities. Each morning, I start my day by taking my pets for a refreshing walk or engaging in playtime with them. This not only provides them with exercise but also sets a positive tone for the day and helps me clear my mind before diving into work. Throughout the day, I make sure to schedule regular breaks to spend quality time with my dogs. These breaks are a welcome distraction, and I cherish the moments of play and cuddle time with my furry friends. It's amazing how these interactions boost my mood and productivity, and I often find myself returning to work with renewed focus after these short breaks. My workstation is set up near a cozy space for my dogs, where they can relax comfortably while being close to me. This arrangement allows them to feel connected and secure, and it's heartwarming to see them content and at ease while I work.
