My family has owned dogs since I was born and I've personally adopted two dogs since college. I have owned a Greyhound and a Husky/German Shepherd mix. My family has also owned a Greyhound, Black Lab, Pit Bull, Collie, Husky runt, Australian Sheep dog, Dalmatian/Lab mix, Great Pyrenees, and many others. I feel very comfortable with all animals and my ability to care for them and would love for that to be my focus while I'm living in Norfolk temporarily this year. Since high school I have often been entrusted to house sit and dog sit for neighbors, teachers, family, and friends while they were away. I've dealt with some very difficult dogs with trust issues but could always get them to feel at ease with me after some work and patience on my part. I've handled elderly dogs, sick dogs, and dogs that have been skunk sprayed [I got that poor thing all cleaned up and comfortable in no time!]. I have volunteered for the Humane Society for a full day, taking care of a large group of dogs in a rec center while people came through looking to adopt. I helped feed and walk each dog, making sure everyone was well taken care of. I have not gone through any advanced training with animals but I do have a good friend who is a veterinarian and a family member who fosters dogs and puppies - both have been helpful to me with my animals in the past. I hope I can support the people of Norfolk with my natural love for dogs. I look forward to helping you out by taking care of your pup while you're away.
