Hi! I'm Luke. I'm a 40yr old single man working remotely at a small startup in technical training solutions. I've been in various technical fields in the last 25 years and recently made a foray into the software business, with the help of a close friend. I've been a homeowner, a pet owner, an airbnb host, a business owner, have a great credit score, a clean criminal history, and a desire to get out and experience different ways people live around the country. I tend to be a bit of an introvert, but I love putting myself in situations where I am meeting new people and having new experiences. Please forgive the lack of smiling in my pictures... I realize that I am not a great selfie-taker... room for improvement. I promise that I'm not grumpy. :-) In my career history, I have worked in service, construction (both heavy civil and residential... HVAC, electrical, siding/roofing, general contracting) electrical manufacturing, petrochemical manufacturing, training, and finally software development and business administration. My history in technical troubleshooting and home ownership have prepared me well for handling most situations that can arise while you are away. I used to be an avid hiker, camper, and rock climber and would like to get back into those types of activities; I currently enjoy disc golfing, cooking, reading, and 'maker' hobbies (like 3d printing, woodworking, microcontroller system design); and, I'd love to move around a bit to experience outdoor activities, cultural events, and meet new personalities. My needs are pretty slim... off street parking (for my car) and relatively consistent high-speed internet connectivity (to take care of my primary career).

We have had Lucas watch our lab/golden mix, Lucy, on quite a few occasions. She can be a little high strung but she is always happy to see Lucas. He takes her for daily walks, plays with her, and gives her lots of attention. Our home is always neat and tidy after Lucas stayed, and he's a pretty good guy all around. I trust Lucas to care for my Lucy and my home and will always use his services when we need to travel!
Luke has taken excellent care of my three dogs, two Guinea pigs, and a fish tank on multiple occasions. He is honest, trustworthy, and responsible. You can always rely on him to take care of yours like they were his, and respect your home as well.

I'd be happy to stick to whatever your expectation are for pet care. If you don't have any explicit instructions, I would (at a minimum) ensure they are properly fed and watered, taken out for bathroom breaks and exercise, and play with them to whatever degree they find amenable. As far as your home is concerned, I would set up my workstation where you prefer, clean up after myself, monitor the home for any signs of impending maintenance issues, and generally try to leave the place better than I found it. As a homeowner, I also wouldn't mind taking care of any small assignments you need done, like collecting mail, running an errand or 2, completing routine maintenance, like basic yardwork, or prepping for your return with a grocery pickup. It should go without saying, but I would ensure the place is locked up and secure if I need to leave the home for any reason, and would never bring guests into the someone else's home.

Any information you can share about your pet is appreciated. I get along with most animals and will tailor my interaction with them based on their preferences and demeanor. Knowing any special needs a pet has is always preferred.
A typical day
Depending on the part of the city, I enjoy getting out and checking out local parks, Memorial and Buffalo Bayou are favorites. If you have a fenced yard, I love facilitating fetch or other types of activities. I generally don't like taking a dog off-leash in an uncontrolled environment because I'd hate to risk losing someone's baby.

Availability
I work at a startup, so there is always work to be done, but it is remote and the hours are flexible. I generally try to get up and move around every 2 hours or so, which provides a great opportunity to take pets out for walks, play around with them, or make sure they have any food or water they need. I also try to get out to take walks in the morning and afternoon to maintain a good mental health, and having some pets along for the walk is great. I would like the opportunity to get out for small day trips to see the local area, on the occasion, but would make myself available for whatever the situation dictates, and most importantly, I will always prioritize your home and pet's care.
