Pet care experience
Hi! My name is LJ and I have began pet sitting in middle school. Currently I am a college student, and have experience working at dog and cat veterinary practice and a boarding facility. I want to be there for every animal I care for, and make sure they experience as little stress or discomfort as possible when exercising, socializing or being apart from you! I have a lot of patience and a generally calm demeanor, and really want to make something work for you and your pet!

Lucas was fantastic babysitting our two cats for the first time. He did really well with our routines/instructions. We were thrilled that the shy younger one, Della (18 months), came out on the second night and really liked him! The photos showed her and our older cat Mollee (16 years) doing all of their usual things by day two, including pets, eating, and play, which means they were happy! Routines are so important to cats :) It was great to see all the photos and know everything was going so well. Thank you Lucas! The kitties say we should definitely hire you again!
Lucas came to meet the pets ahead of time. They hit it off very well. I left a note with each pet schedule and reminders of our conversation as a reference. After a couple of days, Lucas was coming in late in the mornings saying he slept through the alarm. I had already changed their eating schedule to accommodate the times Lucas was visiting. Therefore, they ended up eating and going out to release themselves almost 3-4 hours later than usual. He offered to make it up in the afternoon. However, I noticed he wasn't engaging with them like the first two days. In addition, without notice or consent, he brought another person to my home, though the person stayed in the backyard.
Above and beyond! Ema came home tired and happy, really got a nice workout.

I keep a calm tone, and recognize animals body language when planning on how to approach a situation. Positive reinforcement and vocal appreciation is something I think all animals deserve. I keep track of behavior for their safety, such as body language, limps, or signs of seperation anxiety. Knowing what comforts your animals, what their usual routines are and what to keep an eye on is very helpful!!! I know how different breeds of dogs may have different urges, and consider that as well as their past. As a dog walker and house sitter, it is my goal to bring comfort and consistency to the animals in my life.

For your dog or cats safety, it is important to know if your dog has any trauma, or specific triggers/stressors! It is also vital for your pets comfort/adjustment to me to know what your animals favorite things and activities are. Any body language that is specific to their personality (example pawing leg to go outside, showing teeth to play), or ways you have trained your animal are very helpful!!! Know how to help your animal get out energy through play makes a difference for drop in visits.
A typical day
Any activities you tell me your dog enjoys I do my best to incorporate into my time with them! Playing fetch, brushing, walks and food enrichment are all activites I love doing with dogs. I usually end up mapping out walking routes, to try and give dogs lots of good spots to sniff, as well as keeping in mind how social they may be. I love walking through parks or by trees, since there are often lots of good smells for the doggies. I have lived in Forest Grove for over 15 years, and I love to learn animals favorite activities and help them relieve energy and feel content through games, enrichment using treats, walks, or brushing and petting!!!

I am living in Portland, so I am nearby to hangout with animals and care for them! I have my drivers license, and I my work and school schedule are consistent, so I can do visits or walks before and after work, and have done repeating walks where I come a certain amount of times per week.
