On the Leash with Lora

Pet care experience

Hey there! My name is Lora. I have had dogs & cats pretty much since my first day of kindergarten (LONG time ago!). If I wasn't at my house, I was at my grandparents (both sets), where there were more cats and dogs...don't even get me started on all my friends who had pets! Animals truly are our family members and should always be treated as such. We need them probably more than they need us. I have my dog Jake, and yes, I REALLY did name him after Jake from State Farm! Jake is a two and a half year old Shih-Poo, and Jake has a best friend named Magic (I still, to this day, have no clue why my son picked that name!) who is also two and a half years old, but he's a cat...He was an abandoned kitten, and poor little thing was out in the cold shivering and starving when my son found him. We brought him in, "just for a couple of nights..." (You know how this story goes). Next thing I know, I'm calling my vet to make an appointment, out buying cat litter, litter box and food as well as a thousand toys and a cat tree...I tried to blame every bit of that spending spree on my son, but we all know whose fault that really was. Well, Magic is very happy, weighs right around 12lbs and gives Jake a run for his money! They would be lost without each other, and myself and my family would be lost without them. No worries though, Jake nor Magic will be joining us on our walks; that's your dogs time and I want to give my full attention to him/her. (I just like telling you about mine). I work for a school district, so during the week, I'm not available until 4:30pm (I work until 3:30pm). The weekends however, I am open and flexible. I am a mother of 3 and a grandmother of 1. I understand what the word "kind-hearted" actually means, and you'll definitely see that when I interact with your dog and your dog will appreciate it as well. I hope to meet you and yours very soon! Take care and thank you!

Information Lora M. would like to know about your pet

Is your dog afraid of anything? (noises, other animals, children, etc) Is your dog comfortable on a leash or do they still need a little guidance and support? Does your dog try to chase after smaller animals? (rabbits, cats, squirrels, etc.) Although I do not have a preference on the breed of dog, since I find them fun and cute anyways, I will tell you that I tend to stray away from Chows. I was attacked by a Chow, spent hours in the hospital, received approximately 8 shots in the back of my leg and still have the scars to prove it. Now, don't get me wrong, I know it was an isolated incident, but I would be lying to you if I said I was comfortable around them. Dogs are smart and can read our body language/feelings, and I wouldn't want your Chow to feel anxious/nervous and not enjoy our walk together because of my own apprehensions; that's not fair to him/her. I hope you understand.

A typical day

We will go around your neighborhood or if you have a park nearby, we'll go play on the swings. Didn't know dogs did that, did you? Lol Seriously, whatever your surroundings are, we will utilize them.
