I have had dogs and cats all of my life, most of which are special needs/ hospice. This has made me extremely comfortable with things like administering medication and adhering to strict feeding schedules. I am also extremely observant of health and behavioral needs. In addition, I volunteered as a dog walker at my local animal shelter for three years until I began working there as an Animal Care Shift Supervisor (for two years). Relevant duties included dog/ cat husbandry (I am no stranger to poop!), feedings, administering medications, assisting with medical evaluations, basic obedience, walking dogs of all sizes/ behaviors, and providing enrichment for all animals several times a day. Also, we would have about twenty puppies at any given time, so I am prepared and willing to take care of the little ones. Having worked in a shelter environment, I have interacted with dogs of all sizes/ages/breeds, and have experience with behaviors such as guarding, food aggression, “stranger danger”, and leash/ dog reactivity. I am very comfortable with all breeds, and have seen the best in all of them. :)
