I initially usually set up an initial meet and greet where I ask all details for care. Then ask for tour of client’s home, care instructions and emergency contact so so can provide service successfully. I check pet’s current needs, make sure they are comfortable and get them harnessed or leashed to go for a walk. I check to see pets behavior in regards to being around other dogs to see if they are able to go to the dog park either alone or in a group setting. Safety is my number one priority. I check to make sure dog/cat has to plenty of food and water. For overnights, clients usually has accommodations for me to stay the night. A guest bed or sofa bed is fine with me. At the end of my service, I make sure I leave the client’s home the way I found it and make sure front door is locked properly.
