Your Fur Baby, my Furrever Friend

Pet care experience

I live ten minutes from the new Addison dog park so I can stop by for walks or drop in visits to keep fido company. Because of my patience in the service industry my specialty has become caring for individual dogs that might have social anxiety. I am free most mornings and work part-time so your dog will have plenty of attention. I provide plenty of exercise for the breed and have knowledge of dog nutrition such as giving pumpkin for upset tummys and fish treats for better coat and goat's milk for digestive issues. I will give love and care to your fur-baby and work on any special skills you might be trying to enforce at home. When caring, its all about their personality!

Our house sitting experience with Liz was mostly good, with a couple of blips. From the start, she seemed very professional and brought treats to the meet and greet (asked to make sure there was no allergy concerns) which was so sweet. We loved that she offered to also send multiple pictures/videos each day. She seemed communicative, shared her potential work hours with us and made sure to ask how long we were comfortable with the dog being home alone while she was at work. We told her that she should be fine to be alone for 8-9 hours at a time. We went on vacation overseas (14 hrs ahead of TX) and asked Liz to house sit while we were away. One day, I happened to check our front yard camera a little after 2AM CST and thought it was odd that her car wasn’t there. I texted her to make sure she was okay since it was later than I had thought she’d be home by. She replied letting me know everything was fine and that she was on her way home. After our trip, the smart home logs showed that our dog was left home alone for more than 12 hours that day (2:30PM - 3AM). This not only upset me that I was paying someone $50/day to be away for that amount of time and not tell me about it but it mostly broke my heart knowing that my dog was left alone for so long and probably dying to go to the bathroom. Additionally, for the last day, I had asked her to leave “sometime after 12pm” to consider when our flight would land, customs and baggage claim. The smart home logs showed that she left the house at 10:45am. I will say that she did seem to mostly take care of things: made scrambled eggs to mix in with our dogs kibble to entice her to eat, sent daily updates, brought in the mail, picked up for when we came back home, took out the trash and offered to bathe our dog. She even took it upon herself to teach her new commands which was a big plus for us! I’d like to think that she just maybe had some personal things going on that collided with our house sitting experience. When interviewing sitters in the future, I will be sure to remind the sitter to let me know if there is a timing conflict. If I had known that she was going to be gone for 12+ hours that day and not able to stay until 12pm on the last day, I could have asked a friend to drop by to let the dog out.

I have a mixed review. On one hand I found her to be respectful of our home and property, and seemingly very good with the pets. HOWEVER, I have a huge issue with the complete disregard for my one request from her when I first contacted her and prior to booking. The issue is we have a pet door that is open all day, and must be closed by 8pm due to bobcats that can jump the fence. When I first contacted and her and prior to bookings, I was extremely clear that I was looking for someone that would be there 5pm to 8pm. They could work/be out earlier or later but that was important to me that they be home from 5pm-8pm. We traded 4 emails via Rover about this PRIOR TO SCHEDULING, and she assured me that her schedule was flexible and she would work mornings and be there during the 5-8pm time. Despite that, of the 8 days she stayed in the house she was not there during those times of 5 of the days. Cameras show she clearly was gone during those times.... she should not have agreed to this job if she was not going to follow through or honor what she promised. At least be honest and let me know PRIOR to accepting the job so that I could decide for myself if I was willing to work around this. She did the exact opposite and told me she would/could do it, then just didn't. I'm undecided whether I'd use her again or not? I'd prefer someone who does exactly what they agree to.

Information Liz P. would like to know about your pet

I like to know of any special commands to keep habits while you are away. I need to know any special diet needs and feeding routine, this is very helpful to keep them comfortable. Also knowing potty habits will help keep their schedule consistent. I specialize in detail care instructions, and one on one care for temperamental pups.

A typical day

I like to go to local dog parks with my clients but I think neighborhood walks are best to help keep things familiar. Playing fetch, chase and hide and go seek are some of my favorites to play with the fur babies.
