I’ve trained over 300 dogs now, and more than twice as many dog lovers, working on helping everyone of both species communicate and build a fantastic relationship between human and animal! I have owned almost 20 different species of pet animals over the years, from rodents to reptiles, birds, tarantulas, fish, equine; I love them all! I grew up riding horses, and learned from 5 years old how to handle massive, powerful animals safely and kindly. I've had dogs since I can remember, and have fostered, adopted, rescued, volunteered, trained, and worked with dogs since I was a child, as well as having read and continuing to read as many dog training books as I can get my hands on (I think about 20 so far!). A tool’s effectiveness lies in the skill of the user, so we all have to learn how to use our chosen tools correctly, and we all have different preferences (so do our dogs!). Options including but not limited to: martingales, slip leads, slip collars, slip chains, limited slip collars, head halters/ gentle leader style halters, prong collars, front clip harnesses, hands free leashes, and more! We’re guaranteed to find something that works for you and your dog, and it will make your training sessions move so quickly you won’t know what hit you! I start out with fully positive reinforcement based training when teaching any behavior, and I am well versed in many methods and solutions that are completely positive reinforcement and force free! I will always start with the Least Invasive, Minimally Aversive options, always reassessing and fitting the method to not just the dog, but you! I only escalate methods when needed. I am a highly flexible trainer, and I am happy to specialize our sessions for you and your dog’s comfort and needs 100%! -for my Leash Walking lessons, I can teach you a Loose Leash Walk, where the dog walks within the confines of the leash without pulling (AKA stop pulling). I can teach you a functional heel, where your dog stays within a foot or two of your side, shoulder even with your leg; dog stops when you stop, turns, speeds up, and slows down with you, generally not sniffing and checking in with occasional eye contact. I can teach you a much more precise and focused heel, where your dog is glued to your side and gives you tons of eye contact, autosits when you stop, pivots with you, and so on- it’s a wonderful sight to see! -potty training!! I have the answers you need!
