Snuggle Camp

Pet care experience

Small to Medium Dogs Overnight I'm a responsible 40-something stay at home student and homemaker who loves interacting with and caring for dogs. Furry pals who stay over with me will benefit from my regular schedule, the company of two other mellow and friendly resident dogs, two open and welcoming laps in the evening, and plenty of exercise and enrichment. We'll spend days in the front room and playing in the backyard, have a mid-day walk, and evenings curled up with knitting and some good movies. I have experience administering many kinds of medications, serving senior dogs with mobility issues, and also wound care. ACCES North Seattle emergency vet is just 2 minutes from my door by car. Drop-in Sitting -- All Dog Sizes Welcome Some pooches prefer all the comforts of their own home while you're away. No worries, I've got your best friend covered. While I won't be able to sleepover, I can commit to up to 3 hours of in-home supervision per 24/hr period. Breakfast, mid-day, dinner and a bedtime visit, plus 30 minute walk outside the home if desired. Also happy to water plants, feed kitties and fish, and bring in the mail. Their accustomed schedule becomes mine. Why I love dog sitting I have been around dogs for most of my life as family pets. However, it wasn't until my 30s that I adopted two for myself. CJ the greyhound came into my life as a companion animal while I was recovering from an injury. It turns out, we both had some recovery to do. CJ was injured as a young racing hound, and has a permanent limp. We both learned to walk well again together... and have been having adventures together for nearly 4 years now. Next came Bellaby! An 8lb purse dog chihuahua mix, she had never had her own leash or harness. She came with 20 pairs of pink clothes and a shy personality. Within a few weeks, she was out on walks and romping in dog parks! Meet my pets Saltwater reef tank with corals and fish! About my yard My backyard is mixed terrain... mostly grass, some rocks, and a gravel area. Approximately 600 sq. ft and fenced. The grass isn't in the best shape, but... two dogs! Pick up duty happens daily. My experience administering medication Yes. I have given IV fluids with catheter, administered all kinds of liquids and pills, ointments, cared for braced limbs and bandages, and am eager to learn how to care of insulin dependent dogs or those requiring injectables.

This is our 4th stay with "Auntie" Lisa and "Uncle" Kevin (which is how we now refer to them). The dogs were very happy to arrive, and immediately made themselves at home. We got lots of happy dog pictures while we were away, and they were playing outside and happy as clams when we picked them up. Lisa will always be my first choice for dog sitting (and I hope I never have to try anyone else).

Our dogs stayed with Lisa and Kevin for the third time, and once again it was perfect! They love them, and so do I! On this trip, they got invited to a BBQ. Lisa checked with me prior to the BBQ to see if it was okay for her to take the dogs. Of course I said yes, and they had a great time! Again, they came home happy, healthy, and spoiled! She goes above and beyond, and anytime we have a need, she will be the first person I check with.

June had another great afternoon play and potty session today thanks to Lisa! I get photo updates and reports every day. Lisa even let me know about some plants in my yard that are toxic to puppies, and sent me a link to check on the other plants. :-)

Oooh I loved the updates I got today, with cute happy puppy pictures and a great report that the afternoon exercise/potty/training sessions are going beautifully!

Information Lisa C. would like to know about your pet

I'd love to learn about all your dog's quirks and adorable antics. Do they like to play with other dogs? Do tricks? Have any fears or sensitivities? I don't have any dog breed preferences, but sighthounds are a personal favorite for attitude and disposition. Overnight visitors should be less than 45 lbs so that I can lift in an emergency.

A typical day

Here's where we'll take our walks There are several options, and I will defer to your preferences. My property is 2000 sq. ft. The neighborhood has a small pocket park just 2 blocks away, and I am close to a Shoreline dog park. I also have access to a large 900 sq ft fenced yard that hosts gentle-doggy private playdates of approximately 4-8 dogs (my preference for active off leash time over public dog park). Your dog's sleeping arrangement Your dog will sleep as close to its accustomed position in the household as possible without actually being inside my bed covers. If the dog is used to sleeping in bed with you, I will make a very comfortable nest at the foot of my bed, or just to the side. Time I'll spend with your dog I will probably spend all waking hours with your pup during their stay with me.
