Loves being outside with your dog!

Pet care experience

Having had a dog most of my life, I am used to having 4 legged furry things around. As an outdoor enthusiast, I love everything there is to do with being outside. Whether it's hiking, running, fishing, or just a casual stroll, having a dog with me makes these activities that much better. My family growing up had an energized Whippet / Spaniel mix for 13 years, and I shared a big ol' fluffy German Shepherd / Rottweiler / Chow n a previous relationship for 3 years. I also spend a lot of time at my brother's 51 acre farm in Ashtabula where I help watch their 4 year old Scottish Terrier and their 4 month old Meremma / English Shepherd. I get a healthy dose of taking care of 2 pigs, 4 goats, 4 sheep, and dozens of chickens, turkeys, ducks, and rabbits (cows to come!) At the time being I am living in a no-pets-allowed house, so to fill my furry-friend void, I am currently a volunteer at the Cleveland APL where I walk dogs of all sizes every week for 2 hours at a time. On top of that I would love nothing more than be able to share my time making other people's dogs happy puppers while their owners are away at work. The pictures I have provided are of my old dog, my boyfriend, and me at the 100 mile marker while hiking the Pacific Crest Trail this past May. Let me love your dog! I promise I'll treat them like my own and provide the best possible care to make them the happiest puppers in Cleveland.

Information Lisa C. would like to know about your pet

I don't have any dog preferences; all dogs are lovable! I would like to know what kinds of activities the dog prefers though. For example, some dogs don't like water, so I know not to take them down to the river, or maybe the dog has sensitive teeth and prefers a fabric frisbee as opposed to plastic one. Knowing a dog's favorite place to be scratch would be helpful, and most importantly how the dog is around other dogs. Does it like to go to the dog park? Or is it a little skittish when it comes to being around other dogs, or just certain types of dogs? What kind of reaction do non-dog people generally get from the dog? Do I need to worry if someone doesn't ask before petting them? Where did the dog come from / how long has the current owner owned this dog?

A typical day

Rocky River Metropark is one of my favorite places to go on walks, not just on the bike path, but along other dirt trails as well, providing a number of bushes and trees for dogs to sniff and check out. Once we've played fetch for awhile, there's nothing better for a dog to do on a hot summer day than to just cool down in the river.
