Life long pet lover

Pet care experience

I have raised and trained my dogs since I was twelve years old and taken care of many pets (birds, cats, dogs) of friends and family through the years. I fostered Brittany Spaniels for many years as well. I have worked in grooming salons, been class assistant at dog training schools. With my own dogs, I did obedience training (through Utility level), Agility and Fly Ball training. I'm looking forward to learning your pet's likes and routines and am able to reinforce good behaviours that you are working on with your pet.

My sweet little dog, Laney, had her first stay with Lisa and her family. "Zany Laney", as they affectionately nicknamed her, is a rescue with an abused background (former puppy mill mom). While she's a well-loved & pampered pet now, she's had to keep "one eye on mom" in order to feel safe in a new setting, making it hard for me to feel okay leaving her with someone new, particularly when I saw how much fear and anxiety was creeping back in whenever I tried to leave. When I wanted to go on vacation and found out the person that normally watches her was also going to be away, I genuinely thought about cancelling my trip. My friend recommended Rover, and I found Lisa's site. I was impressed by her long history raising and training dogs, and her passion for animals was really clear. Before taking Laney in, she took the time with me to hear my concerns, learn about Laney's history and her funny little quirks, asked lots of questions about Laney and our routines, and I felt like Laney was going to be in really good hands. I also appreciated that Lisa was retired. This assured me that Laney Bee wasn't going to be left alone for any length of time, and that she was going to have lots of comforting company and could keep to the 2-3 hour bathroom breaks that she needed. Whenever Lisa did need to step away, it was reassuring to know that her partner or adult daughter (also big pet lovers!) were there to step in. Every day of my trip, I got funny little updates about how Laney was doing. They included pics of Laney asleep in the sun (Lisa called it "today's action shot", lol!), or curled up beside Lisa's partner as he read the paper, or videos of Laney speed-walking with Lisa and her daughter, both of them giggling as Laney explored the neighbourhood. I really appreciated the time they took to let me know how Laney was doing, and it was wonderful to see how calm, happy, and playful Laney was within just a few hours of meeting Lisa and her family. It helped me to have a great trip away! I would highly recommend Lisa's pet-sitting services and will definitely be booking with her again! Thank you to Lisa and her family for taking such good care of my sweet girl ..... :-) Erica B

Lisa had her first dog in her early teens. A second pup followed swiftly. Her teen years were largely devoted to her dogs. She was a very patient and compassionate dog owner. Lisa took the dogs to obedience school. Then, she joined an agility group. She travelled with the team to competitions in various provinces. She was the only teenager in the group. She never missed a practice or a dog show.. A duo of Brittany’s followed and were just as cherished. Sadly later, her job and travel made it impossible to have pets. Now that she has retired, she would like to include animals in her life once again. She would give any pet as much joy as he would give her. Lisa would be a competent and responsible companion for any dog or cat.
