Single dog mom & lover of dogs!
Pet care experience
I grew up with a Husky-German Shepherd mix named Lucky who passed away when I was 18. I've had Karl, my 5-year-old dachshund, for 4 years and he's the sweetest boy. He loves playing with dogs (and cats!), and would love to play with yours! My stepsister is also a vet, and she's a wonderful resource for all of my dog questions. I love all kinds of dogs and will take care of yours the way I take care of my little boy. Just let me know what your preferences is are, and I'll be sure to follow them. I'm available week nights to check-in with/walk your pups and available anytime over the weekends. I'm totally comfortable with giving your pup medicine if needed too. As you may have seen, I have one negative review and, as a dog mom, I thoroughly understand why this would be cause for concern, so I will address the review directly here. The morning of the drop-off, I did request that we postpone, but also told Jessica to please let me know if that was not OK, and I would be happy to skip the event and meet her at the pre-determined time (8pm). She said that postponing was completely fine. I also said that my arrival was approximate (I provided a window of between ~8:30 and ~9pm), so, to avoid her waiting, I would let her know exactly what time once I knew. I later asked if 9:15 was OK, and she said that was fine, though she was already on her way, but that Finn could use a walk, so that was no problem. When I checked my phone again right before I was leaving to arrive at 9:15, I saw that she asked for the ETA. Since I wouldn't be home until 9:15, as I'd confirmed, I asked my roommate if she was home and could greet and welcome them, since Jessica had been waiting. She was and did. I had also previously accomodated Jessica twice: once when she needed to reschedule the day of our meet-and-greet, and a second time when she needed to push our rescheduled meet-and-greet last minute from 6pm to 7:30pm. That was no problem at all, and I was happy to accommodate her, since I had no conflicts. It was odd to me that Jessica agreed to the postponement, but was clearly not OK with it after all. Jessica said in her review that she did not hear from me for 48 hours, which is not true. The following morning, I sent this message to her: "Hi Jessica, just checking in. Finn had a great first night! We took a walk this morning with Karl and again at noon. He's been snoozing on the couch since then :)" She did not respond. I figured she was distracted on vacation. I sent her this message the following day: "Hey again! Finn is still doing well! He's very sweet. We got back from our morning walk a little bit ago. We'll send photos later today!" She did not respond to this message either (I assume something was finicky with her app notifications). I sent her this message later that day, which is when my roommate would take over watching Finn (in my first message to Jessica, I told her that I would be available part of the time, and my roommate could care for him the second half of his stay, if she was alright with that. She said that was no problem; the meet-and-greet was with both Mel and I to ensure comfortability): "Also, here's Melanie's phone number. My flight leaves this afternoon, so I'll walk Finn around 1pm before I go, and then Mel will watch him until you get back." She did not respond to this message either. I sent a photo. Mel took over from there with regular updates and a photo. When Jessica picked Finn up, Mel mistakenly left his blue blanket and raccoon toy out of his bag. Jessica let Mel know. Mel was incredibly apologetic and even offered to go to Jessica at her convenience to save her a trip. Jessica said she would prefer to drop by and pick up the missing items. Mel said before 1pm or after 6pm would work for her, and Jessica came by at her convenience. Regarding photos: I certainly could have sent more and will happily do that going forward, regardless of whether or not an owner is unresponsive to my updates. Regarding the food: I completely understand why Jessica would have expected an explanation for this, and I'm not sure why my roommate did not provide it. I'm guessing that, as a 9-month-old puppy in a new place, he may have had a lower appetite due to some nervousness, and I would have discussed this with Jessica had I known. This was a lesson-learned to me not to care for dogs in coordination with my roommate, even if approved by the owner, because any negative review only impacts me. I contacted Rover about taking this review down, since, per our messages, there is proof that it is inaccurate, but their policy is to leave reviews intact regardless. All of that to say, I hope this context is helpful and that you give me the opportunity to care for your pup.
Reviews
I'm sorry to say that we did not have a good experience with Lindsey. After agreeing to drop our dog Finn off around 8pm, Lindsey requested that we postpone until 8:30, due to a dinner she wanted to attend, we agreed, but she continued to postpone, ultimately leaving us waiting in front of her apartment for 45 minutes before she had her roommate come down to get Finn. We didn't hear from Lindsey again for over 48 hours. We only received two pictures with updates over the 5 night stay. After picking Finn up I noticed that he still had two meals worth of food left (no explanation was given as to why), and that his blanket and toy were not in his bag. We will have to return to Lindsey's apartment to pick those up. We were very disappointed by the lack of communication and professionalism shown by Lindsey and will not be using her services in the future.
Lindsey was great. This was Koa's first puppy sleepover and she definitely made me feel like I was leaving him in great hands. Lindsey sent us updates and a photo and was very responsive to my ceaseless questions/instructions and helicopter parenting. Very glad he stayed here and would definitely use her again.
Lindsey was such a perfect dog sitter for my little furry dog. I've found it in a very good shape and happy from the pics she sent to me. She was also very patient and helpful when my dog unexpectedly went in heat. Definitely I recommend her!
Very happy. Zero had a wonderful time and look forward to using Lindsay again. Thank you

I'd just like to know whether they're good with other dogs. How much/what they eat, and anything else you'd like Karl and I to be aware of!
A typical day
I take Karl for walks at least twice a day. We play chase and snuggle a lot. On nice days, we walk to Stuy Square and play with other dogs. Karl also gets treats when I leave and come home, and when he's a good boy (so all of the time, ha!).
