Experienced Dog Lover

Pet care experience

I am retired from the field of IT (computers), have owned dogs for 50 years, trained dogs in agility and tracking, and shown terriers in conformation. I currently do not have a dog and miss them. My partner and I prefer to care for one dog at a time so we can devote 100% attention to your pet, however, we will take more than one in a family and consider more than one in cases where we believe the dogs will get along and the owners approve. We are not able to take dogs with behavioral problems, large hyperactive dogs, or those with complex medical requirements/incontinence. We are able to take dogs up to approx 65 lbs. if they are not super active. It's a judgment call for you and for us.

Linda was great with our 2 small dogs and communicated well with me. They had 2 long walks and came home nice and tired. Definitely would book again.

Great experience and excellent communication! We are so excited to have found Linda to care for our dog. We will be using her again in the very near future.

My older dog Charley stayed with Linda for two weeks while we took our Italy vacation. Being older Charley has some quirks and Linda just handled all of them. It made me so happy knowing he was so well cared for while we were overseas. She kept us regularly informed and sent pics. Such a kind and interesting person who loves dogs. Highly recommend.

Safety, trust & environment

Your dog will be safe and sound in our home with a fenced small patio-yard and a level dog-friendly neighborhood in which to walk. We have crates for safe-keeping should it be necessary, and other dog supplies including dishes, sleeping pads, balls, toys, leashes, etc. When we walk your dog, we avoid meeting other dogs to be safe. Your dog will never be outside our secure home and patio without being leashed. If your dog is high-energy and needs a large yard in which to romp, this accommodation would not be an ideal choice. Just something to consider with a young and active dog. Your dog's diet will be followed as indicated by you.

Information Linda K. would like to know about your pet

I require emergency and veterinary contact for your dog. I want to be aware of any allergies or foods to avoid. Please tell me if your dog is a picky eater or may avoid eating altogether so I won't be apt to make veal cordon bleu to tempt them. I would like to know if your dog is fearful of or aggressive toward cats, other dogs, people, or children so I can avoid contact. I want to know how your dogs sleeps at night; in your bed or his/her own. I accept dogs who are house-trained and not incontinent. Neutered and spayed is preferable but not mandatory. Boarding charges are in 24 hour increments from the time you drop your dog off with me. Rover is now charging for extra hours depending on when you drop off and pick up.

A typical day

Your dog becomes a member of our small family. He or she gets up with us and goes to bed with us. During the day there are many snuggles and playtime. Small dogs sleep on the foot of the bed; larger one's on pads, crates or blankets in our room, preferably on something with a familiar smell. Your dog will walk around the neighborhood and to the small park across from my home. Weather permitting, we may visit Wonderwood and Rainier Vista Parks. I have trained dogs in obedience, agility and tracking and will keep them walking safely by my side. For control purposes, I prefer non-flexi-leashes.

There is a neighborhood park directly across the street, the Chehalis Trail within a few blocks for dogs who need more exercise, and Wonderwood and Rainier Vista Parks close by; all good places to walk your dog and give them enjoyable experiences.
