All-around animal caretaker!

Pet care experience

Note: Independently insured, full-time pet sitting & dog-walking! Hello! I've been taking care of animals for a long while, and can confidently say I speak 'animal' as my first language. I fell in love with animal care early, with two childhood pugs, many neighborhood dogs of various ages, and entertaining our energetic boxer. My experiences aren't just limited to dogs; I've cared for a spectrum of cats, including two of my own, while head of a student-led cat rescue in university. I fostered over 30 cats and kittens with a variety of personalities! My experience extends to larger animals. I spent five years at a horse-boarding farm, where I cared for a rotating roster of 30 horses. The ability to balance fun and guidance to ensure the safety and well-being of the animals and those around us is something I'm very experienced with. I'm excited to apply those principles with your furry friend! I am familiar with feral animals, farm animals, shy animals, elderly dogs, fear-reactive dogs, leash aggression, leash pullers, resource guarding, puppy care, administering medication, and more. I can generally handle large, strong dogs. Always happy to work on any training regime you may have for your animals! I'm a pet sitter and a pet partner. I approach every pet with a playful, respectful attitude, striving to make their experience fun and enriching, or giving them the space they need. I have a knack for understanding your pet's unique needs and providing care to ensure they return to you happy and healthy--a vacation of their own! This job is my passion, and I believe that shines through in the care your pet will receive.

Lily is the best! Arthur had such a great time with her and we hope Arthur gets to hang with her again in the future. They went on such great adventures and cared for our little guy as if he was her own 😁. Thanks again Lily!!!

Lily spent a week with our pup and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We received regular updates while we were gone and it was very clear our dog loved spending time with Lily. Would highly recommend to other pet owners in the area!

Amazing walker. Very sweet! Took the time to give a detailed report and take lots of good photos of my dog. Worked with her to try to help her be more well behaved. I cannot recommend her enough.

Lily is excellent! Friendly, considerate and flexible 😊 She took great care of our dog, and we would call her up again in a heartbeat. Thanks Lily!

Safety, trust & environment

While I like to make your pups & kitties feel right at home during a house sitting, I am mindful of your space and will ensure you return to a clean, happy environment. I will not leave your animals alone for more than 2-4 hours at a time, 2-3 times a day (although we can discuss constant care options if you'd prefer!) and generally expect to stay overnights for house sits for your pet's comfort. I'll work to ensure all your pet's and your expectations are met.

Information Lily G. would like to know about your pet

I strive to understand your pet and provide them with an enriching, catered experience, so please let me know if your furry friend is sensitive to or enjoys anything in particular! For dogs, it's helpful to know about reactivities or odd behaviors we may encounter when out and about. For cats, do they love to socialize, or do they enjoy solitude and morally supporting the scooping of their litter box from afar? Are they a lap-cuddler, playfully a kitten-at-heart (or a kitten!), or do they enjoy long, philosophical conversations? Any scritching spots to avoid, or unique, subtle signs of distress? Does your dog have any quirks during walks or a day at home? This could include a love for eating grass (and if you'd rather they did/didn't), if they communicate with any special body language (ex. sitting at the door when they need to go out), if they respond well to the word "bananas" when they get excited towards another dog, etc.

A typical day

I'm ready to splurge on your dog(s) with walks depending on their needs! I love walking along the Portland Trails, promenades, and know a few quieter, enriching spots if your dog prefers to be away from noisy areas. For socializing, the East End Beach is a favorite (in the summer, dogs are allowed only past 5 PM). Whatever your dog enjoys--from sniffing trees to playing fetch with toys to tug-of-wars to having fun on the beach (and a towel-drying afterwards)--I'll be ready to meet their needs. For your cat(s), I try to be attentive to their personalities and can adjust easily. They'll have a lap to lounge on, plenty of chin scratches and playtime, or simply someone to come by and take care of their basic needs without infringing on their space.

I'm a full-time professional pet sitter, so I work my own hours and have flexibility to spend time with your animal! I'll always work to set up a meet & greet with you and your furry friends to go over care and allow your pup or cat to feel comfortable around me. ---- WALKS ---- As of March 2024, I have one spot available for my midday weekly dog walks (11 AM to 3 PM) in the West End/Arts District. If you would like to request a time outside of this, please let me know! We walk rain, snow, or shine, depending on your dog's preference. ---- DROP-INS ---- Drop-ins are available for both cats & dogs morning, night, and midday. I do request +/- 1 hour flexibility for drop-ins, unless timed medication is required. If you need a drop-in for longer than an hour, we can discuss your needs! 4-5 hour drop-ins are common and typically equate to the cost of one night of house sitting. ---- HOUSE SITS ---- When housesitting your animals, I will need to leave for the 11 AM to 2 PM stretch to care for the midday walk pups, as well as 1-4 hours in the morning and night. Weekend house sitting books quickly--I am currently booking out a month in advance. If your pet requires constant care, let's chat!
