Fur babies are my world!

Pet care experience

As a psychology major, I spend my time studying behaviors and analyzing temperaments. However, I don’t often work with humans! I’m working on becoming a canine behavior specialist. I enjoy working with canines and seeing the achievements.

I went on a spur of the moment trip and needed boarding for my k9, I was happy to find this Rover app as it made finding a suitable business last minute very easy. I was gone 4 days and left specific details on the routine and care of my animal. This business seems like a healthy family environment with adequate facilities, children, and other animals. The owners were friendly and seem knowledgeable. They contacted me daily and even sent pictures of my animal playing. My animal does have separation anxiety and I made them aware of this. None of the messages sent to me implied there was anything wrong with my animal. I was told he spent most of the time with their oldest daughter and slept in her room. After four days I picked up my animal and was met outside before I was out of my vehicle, my animal and all his things were quickly returned and I was quite happy as I had been traveling all day and ready to get home. My animal smelled horrible to the point we had to open windows on the car ride home. Upon arriving home and I seen him in the light, his hipbones were showing and ribs. I weighed him and he had lost 6lbs. in four days. I took him straight to the shower and he was gulping the shower water the entire bath. After the shower he finished the water in his water dish like he had been in a desert concentration camp. I text the business owner and asked her to call me, she replied that Rover app would not connect to call and continued conversation via text. Her rebuttal to everything that I just shared was with contradictory information that differed from the conversations she and I had while I was away, insisting that they fed him more than I instructed and that they filled his water bowl 3 times daily. Owner suggested the anxiety was probably to blame. Maybe they did, maybe they didn’t. Regardless the communication was much different than previously led intentions. If they did water his bowl 3 times daily why was he so dehydrated?!? Allergy medication can be used as a sedative and will severely dehydrate any being that takes them. I’m not accusing anyone, but these are the things to consider when leaving your family with strangers. I’m not saying anything negative about this establishment, merely stating unbiased facts. I will never leave my animal anywhere besides with family or friends EVER again. Do your research, in a pinch this app can be helpful but people are still people and not everyone has “your” best interests in mind. I’m glad he is home safe, I will not have to learn this lesson again.

Lila was awesome and understanding of my situation. She kept me posted of my dog’s daily activities and adjustments. I will certainly leave Nairobi with them if I need to.

I don't have the words for how amazing Lila is! On the trip to her place one of the 3 Danes made quite a mess. Upon arrival Lila was there to help us without hesitation. Through the entire 6 day visit she kept in contact every day with how they were doing and sent pictures. She and her family are amazing! Her facility will be the only place we take our dogs from now on. The ease of knowing our 4 legged children were WELL taken care of is worth every penny!

Special needs are no stranger! I would be more than happy to take care of any special needs your furbaby might have, just let me know ahead of time so that I can make the proper accomidations. We have plenty of experience with medications, and even have a diabetic baby of our own that gets injections daily.

A typical day

Breakfast is at 8am, and everyone gets their own "spot" or kennel and bowl to avoid conflict. Then they go outside as they please and spend the rest of the day playing, napping, and working for treats! Lunch is around 12:30 for those that need it. Dinner is around 5pm, everyone is inside before dark, and asleep by 10pm.

Availability

My life is ran by my fur babies. I customize almost every meal, 2-3 times a day. I am a stickler for dietary restrictions and socialization. We do hourly bathroom breaks and make sure everyone gets personalized attention. On decent weather days we even make sure to spend plenty of time in the yards.
