Pet care experience
📚Currently enrolled at UW for an Applied Animal Behavior Certification (UW-AAB) as well as the Karen Pryor Academy & the IAABC Foundation (International Association Association of Animal Behavior Consultants)📚 ✨Licensed & Insured✨ This is my fulltime job so your pet will have my undivided attention✨ Pet Requirements: ✨Be Crate Trained ✨Be good with other dogs & cats ✨Dogs must not have any transmissible sicknesses ✨Must be current on their shots & be on flea preventives ✨I require a meet & greet for any service requested ✨No resource guarding as we do have toys for all the pups ✨Give proof of vaccinations as well as sign my terms of service I've been a devoted animal lover for as long as I can remember. From caring for my own pets to looking after the furry friends of family members, animals have always been my passion. Over the years, I've gained extensive professional experience in dog care facilities, where I've had the privilege of grooming hundreds of dogs and spending countless nights pet sitting. My love for animals led me to pursue courses as a veterinary technician, eager to deepen my understanding and skills in caring for our four-legged companions. I've faced various challenges in my journey, from tending to medical emergencies and providing life-saving first aid to sheltering dogs in times of crisis, such as during a fire at a local establishment. But beyond the day-to-day requirements of pet care, what truly drives me is the deep connection I share with my own pets. Maxine, my rescued Schnauzer mix, Soot, the black cat I nursed back to health after finding him abandoned in a cemetery, and Yamper, my lively corgi whom I've raised from a pup, are not just animals to me—they're my children. Understanding the profound bond we share with our pets, I approach every pet I care for with the same love, dedication, and expertise that I give to my own. Whether big or small, I'm committed to providing the best possible care, ensuring each furry friend feels safe, happy, and loved.
Reviews
I always feel confident that when I leave my wee beasties with Lia, they will be well taken care of. She has good communication and is very considerate. Highly recommended!
Lia takes such good care of Chewy! So glad we found a caring sitter! AAA+
My kitties are always so happy to see Lia! She is meticulous and careful and does a great job.
Lia was amazing with my 1 year old pug, Cucumber. She sent tons of pictures during Cucumber's visit so I knew she was having a great time. At the end of the visit, Lia sent Cucumber home with a goody bag full of a polariod picture of Cucumber along with a vist report. I felt very happy knowing that Cucumber was reciving a lot of attention during her visit with Lia. Lia was very communicative and quick to response to the day-time visit request. 10/10 highly reccomend!

Safety, trust & environment
First and foremost, safety is non-negotiable. I ensure that the environment where the pets stay is hazard-free, whether it's my own home or theirs. This includes removing any potential dangers such as toxic plants, securing fences or gates to prevent escapes, and keeping harmful objects out of reach. Building trust with both the pet and their owner is essential. I maintain open communication with the pet parent, providing updates and addressing any concerns promptly. I also take the time to get to know each pet individually, understanding their preferences, quirks, and any special needs they may have. This helps me create a bond of trust with the pet, ensuring they feel comfortable and secure in my care. Creating the right environment is key to a positive experience for the pet. Whether it's providing cozy bedding, engaging toys, or a calm atmosphere for relaxation, I tailor the environment to suit the pet's needs and preferences. I also make sure to maintain a consistent routine, including feeding, exercise, and playtime, to minimize stress and ensure the pet feels at home. Overall, as a Rover sitter, I prioritize safety, trust, and creating a comfortable environment to ensure both the pet and their owner have peace of mind while in my care.

A typical day
A typical day at the cottage is filled with love, care, and fun activities for the pets under my watch. Here's how a day usually unfolds: Morning: I start the day by greeting the pets with warmth and affection, ensuring they feel welcomed and loved. After a morning potty break/Playtime I provide breakfast according to each pet's dietary needs and preferences, making sure they have fresh water available at all times. Playtime in the completely fenced in backyard to burn off some energy and stimulate their minds. Midday: During the midday hours, I keep the pets engaged with interactive toys, games, and puzzles to prevent boredom and separation anxiety. I offer a midday snack or meal as needed, ensuring they maintain their regular feeding schedule. Even more Playtime in the yard Afternoon: In the afternoon, I focus on providing enrichment activities to keep the pets mentally stimulated and happy. This could include training sessions, puzzle toys, or simply cuddle time on the couch. I monitor the pets for any signs of discomfort, illness, or unusual behavior, ensuring their well-being remains a top priority. Depending on the pets' preferences and energy levels, we might engage in more playtime. Evening: As the day winds down, I provide dinner for the pets, followed by a relaxing evening routine. This might include snuggling on the couch, or enjoying quiet time together. I ensure the pets have access to water throughout the evening and make sure they're settled in comfortably for the night. Before bedtime, we have one final potty break Throughout the day, I maintain open communication with the pet parents, providing updates, photos, and videos to keep them informed and reassured that their furry loved ones are happy and well-cared for. My goal is to create a safe, loving, and enriching environment where pets can thrive and feel right at home.
