Critter Sitter for Furry Friends!

Pet care experience

My family always had dogs and cats from the time I was born, and my love for them has grown across the years now as a young adult. My experience in pet care comes from having my own pets and caring for their needs throughout the years as well as taking care of friends' dogs. My family and I have owned long haired cats adopted as kittens and different mixed breeds of dogs ranging from small to medium/large-sized, the first adopted as a puppy and the past 3 adopted a year or a few years old. For the past 5 years I have been sharing the responsibility of caring for my sister's dog, Gadget, while she is at work. I walk him, give him food/water/treats, play with his toys with him, help wash or trim his hair on his bottom in between taking him to be groomed as he is a Pekinese mix and his fur can occasionally get messy when going on potty breaks. I am looking forward to meeting new furry friends, getting to know their needs and how they like to be loved and cared for just as I would with my own pet.

Leslie is the best! Taking care of animals just comes naturally to her! She dog-sat for my family multiple times while we were away and my dogs love her. She is trust worthy, reliable, and thorough. I highly recommend her services!

I’ve known Leslie for several years now and have always known her to be a very responsible and respectful young adult. I have a 3 year old Morkie who’s a handful but all love. As a business owner, I’m always busy. Leslie really helps me out by dog sitting Dot whenever I’m traveling or away for several hours, it is such a relief knowing I can count on her always when I need assistance. I’ve never had any issues, ever, concerning Dot or her well being while’s she’s been in Leslie’s care. In the time I’ve known Leslie, she’s had cats and dogs as pets and I know they’ve always been well looked after which is why I knew she would do the same for Dot. Highly recommend.

My sister's dog is a sweet and friendly dog, however he does get excited around strangers and other animals. When inside my home, I try to distract him from barking at people walking by as he does like to bark. When on walks, I always make sure to have a good grip on his leash and if another dog is excited because of him or vice versa I pull back slightly and shush him or if that is not enough I might physically crouch down to be level with him and calm him down and that tends to be what does the trick. However, as every dog is different I will listen and try out any suggestions that work with prospective client's pets. My particular dog can have a sensitive digestive system and sometimes some dog food doesn't sit right with him so we tend to avoid feeding him food scraps for that reason unless it's only simple ingredients that won't upset his stomach. I will listen and adhere to any dietary or medicine instructions that any pet might need.

Information Leslie S. would like to know about your pet

It would be important to know if their are multiple pets, how they each behave around eachother/other pets, what kinds of commands or gestures they respond well to, what kind of special instructions for each individual pet there are, and what kind of contacts and first-aid supplies there are in case of emergency.

A typical day

I enjoy physical activity with pets and keeping them happy, healthy and entertained through energizining walks and/or playing with them outdoors/indoors with their favorite toys.

For the past year's schedule, my sister takes her dog, Gadget, out in the mornings before work and I am in charge of him after she leaves (usually around 10am-11am, it varies because she does client-based work) and am on dog duty through-out the afternoon through the evening. In the mornings I exercise and currently am invested in taking online classes with the intention of selling my own artwork in the near future on different platforms like Etsy. I have also recently decided to start learning music production as I listen to a lot of music especially when I exercise and take my dog on walks. I take Gadget out in the early afternoon and walk him around my neighborhood and after dinner I take him out once more and then my sister lets him out for one last pee break before bed. I keep Gadget on a schedule and I plan to keep all prospective client's pets on their usual schedule and give them the love and care they deserve. As my sister has now been renting her workspace and she has the option to take her dog to with her, I have ample time availability all through the day and evening to take care of other dogs for drop-ins and walking needs.
