Pet care experience
We love all dogs. We had a cat and dog for the past ~19 years. Both passed in old age last year, and we're not quite ready for our next dog but we miss dog snuggles and we can't wait to give love, attention, and energy to your delicious pup. Matt and I care for dogs of all ages, and all energy levels. We can manage dogs who need help getting up the stairs, and who need medication. We have experience clicker-training and can maintain your routine to avoid a backwards slide in training while you're away. We have three kids ages 6, 10 & 12 at home with us half the time, so depending on the dates you require we may only be able to accommodate dogs who are good around kids.
Reviews
Leslie and her family have hosted my dogs on a few occasions. They have been great with the dogs, and excellent at communicating with us while we were away. Our dogs seemed to really enjoy their time there. We will definitely be reaching out the next time we go away.
Leslie has taken great care of our dogs over the years. She is incredibly kind and a true animal lover. All of our dogs have warmed up to her quickly, and are calm and happy when we pick them up. She is very organized, and an excellent communicator. Leslie, thank you so much for your exceptional care!
I have known Leslie for over 15 years. She is an incredibly kind and thoughtful person. She has had a dog and a cat since I’ve know her and both of them had wonderful, long, happy lives and are very missed by Leslie and her family. Leslie has an intuition about what animals want and need and will devote time and attention to caring for your pet. Any animal (or human) would be lucky to have Leslie and Matt take care of them. I would have no hesitation to leave my pets or my human toddler twins with them anytime.

We have a fenced in yard that dogs can use, but we generally take dogs for short or long walks to get them their exercise and potty breaks. We'll work with you to sort out a walk and exercise schedule that is best for your dogs' needs. For dogs coming home muddy from the park, we do a wipe-down at the door, and can bathe as needed if your pup is used to that (dogs are allowed on couches in our home). We can accommodate both crate-trained and non-crate-trained dogs. We will take up to two dogs from the same family at a time. Dog pick-up and drop-off may be possible, depending on timing and location.

Information Leslie & Matthew S. would like to know about your pet
When we’re booking, we’ll go through what your dogs’ needs are in terms of exercise, play, food, and rest, and we’ll come up with a schedule that will work best while they’re here. We’ll go over any medications or additional puppy, senior, or higher-needs care that your dog may require. And I’d like to understand what your dog is like behaviourally and personality-wise- how are they on and off leash, around other dogs, what are their barking habits, etc.
A typical day
On a typical day we go for a long morning walk, passing through an off-leash park for higher energy dogs. We come home to some breakfast and couch napping. We do shorter 10-15 min walks mid-morning and mid-afternoon, with some play time/training time and backyard potty breaks as needed in between. We do another long walk after work +/- some off-leash time, with dinner afterwards. The evening is couch cuddles, training/playing, and another short 10-15 min walk before bedtime. On weekends for dogs who may enjoy it, we head to cherry beach or woodbine beach off-leash areas to mix it up.

My partner Matt and I are your dog-sitting team. Matt works from home so someone is always at home with your pup. We can take dogs of all energy levels - we'll work out a walk/run schedule to reflect what your dog is used to. Generally, we go on long walks in the morning before work, either on-leash only or we head to one of the nearby off-leash dog parks for dogs who need some running and socializing. We'll take your dog out mid-morning, and mid-afternoon for shorter 10-15 minute leash walks. After work we do a longer walk, either leashed or at an off-leash park. We do one more 10-15 minute walk before bed. For dogs that need more frequent potty breaks, we do a little jaunt around the block as needed. We also have a small fenced in yard that they can use if that's their jam. Our kids love dogs and will play fetch, try to teach tricks, and get some couch snuggles in.
