As a dog owner myself, I always watch to see how my dog is reacting to the people he meets, especially if I am looking for a sitter. The dog owners I work with can see their dogs warm up to me within a minute or so because dogs can sense how much I love and adore them. And owners can tell that I am intelligent, responsible and cautious when caring for their babies (dogs). As a teenager, I volunteered at an animal shelter and worked in a veterinary hospital. While that is many years ago, I feel that the experience and knowledge I gained at the vet hospital is still with me. A LITTLE ABOUT ME BESIDES PETSITTING: I am in New Jersey right now and am a web designer, marketer, and filmmaker and I like pet sitting so I decided to make a Rover profile. I can house sit/dog sit without bringing my dog because my family can watch him while I am watching your dog. UPDATE: I have dropped my "drop-in" rate because I seem to be getting a lot of requests from people I have not met but want me to house sit or dog sit for a week or more. I always really want the job but also feel it would be more comfortable for all parties to build a bit of rapport before engaging in a long term sitting arangement to make sure we all click (me, dogs, you, etc). So I now REQUIRE a meet and greet before any services. I don't mind taking the time to meet you and the dog. And also maybe have me stop in and let your dog out first before bringing me in for a longer stay. That builds trust and rapport for all parties. Also, I know that the most useful person to me in regards to my dog is someone who can take him out for 10 minutes if I am at the beach or New York all day and hit traffic on the way home and feel he has been in too long (he's always fine but I always feel guilty because I usually work from home). So, I feel like providing this for other people would be very helpful because other people probably need this, too. And I am charging what I would pay for such a service. So there you go. :-)
