Pet care experience
My family always had dogs growing up, and then as an adult I've had dogs of various breeds from Rat Terriers to Pitties, Border Collie, and Chihuahuas. I've boarded dogs for friends and family for up to a month at a time. I have excellent rapport with dogs, and enjoy their company.
Reviews
Lesa took great care of our dog and our house while we were away. She communicated well, and helped us out in a pinch when our return flight was cancelled. We would be delighted to have her sit for Pippin again. Highly recommended!
Lesa is great!
Lesa is fantastic! highly recommended. Jack takes a nap after each walk.
Lesa is wonderful and I think if Jack had his way, he would rather go home with her. He really loves her! She shows up on time and covers a lot of ground during their short 30 minute walk. I would highly recommend her.

I talk to the dogs a lot! I chatter to them so they know where I am in the house when I'm moving between rooms (and might startle them). On walks, I do the opposite, where I am mostly silent so that when I do speak, it helps to get their attention. I get as much detail as possible from the pet parent for the commands and routines that are familiar to each dog so that I can reinforce their training while reducing their anxiety around changes. I spend time on the floor with the dogs to play and cuddle; most dogs crave close contact, so I make sure they have access to get close to me for cuddles in approved areas (floor, dog-approved furniture, etc.). I follow instructions for medications, and reach out to the pet parent if needed.
Information Lesa E. would like to know about your pet
I always want to know the commands, phrases and routines the dog is used to so I can reinforce training and provide that anxiety-reducing consistency for them. It's also good to know the house rules for the dogs with their behavior during the pet parents' meal times. Is the dog allowed to beg, should they be shooed out of the kitchen when cooking, etc.
A typical day
Each dog is different, so I cater the activities for them individually. For older dogs with mobility issues, I spend a lot of time close to them at their level (the floor or low seat), and we walk at a slower pace. For energetic dogs, I engage them with their favorite toys, and encourage them to play with me often (tug of war, fetch, hide and seek). In all cases, cuddles are involved, and ongoing positive reinforcement for good behaviors. With dogs that like to bark a lot, I quickly get them used to me praising them for guarding us so well and alerting the neighborhood, and then we walk away from the barking spot together with praises.
