Pet care experience
Hi! My name is Leisa & I have a long history of caring for animals. I grew up around a variety of pets including 4 large dogs, and my family recently adopted a senior Pekingese Mix. In the past I have volunteered at North Shore Animal League (NSAL) & I completed my Girl Scout Silver Project to benefit local animals, NSAL & the ASPCA. I began neighborhood dog sitting & dog walking beginning in late elementary school and I assisted my parent with in-home dog boarding from late high school up until recently. I was also an executive board member for the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund at my law school. As you can see, I’ve spent most of my life around animals and have decided a lot of time to caring for them! I also have experience with Exotic Animals & I currently have a pet hedgehog, who I’ve cared for independently for over four years. I am also a type one diabetic myself, and have taken care of many pets who were diabetic and/or needed injections, so I am familiar and comfortable with most medical needs.

Leisa is FANTASTIC!!! She is reliable, capable, and most importantly, LOVING with our cat, Sophia! She came to us when we first met to go over everything. When we traveled, all I did was leave a bullet point review, and she followed all the instructions perfectly. I can be a bit particular, and Leisa left everything near and tidy. She send many photos and played with Sophia. Sophia took a liking to her immediately, which is so important to us! Thank you so much, Leisa!!!

As mentioned, I have a lot of experience with pets, and a lot of love for pets. I treat every animal with love and compassion, as if they were my own. I spend plenty of time directly caring for the animal, as well as plenty of time playing, cuddling, or both! Whenever possible, I like to meet pet parents and pets before pet sitting or dog walking, to ensure they are as comfortable as possible! I treat clients homes and pets with the utmost respect at all times, since I consider them to be a place of work. I am happy to work to meet any wants or needs of pets & pet parents! I do everything I can to do what is best for the dog, cat or small critter I am caring for. Many pets need someone who will make them feel comfortable and at home, so I am able to provide a calm and natural environment. However some pets need excitement, change of pace, or to be tired out, so I am also able to provide energetic play, exercise, and introduce them to something fun and new. Some need a mix of both, so I prioritize listening to what pet parents want and taking cues from the pet themselves always! I always make sure to have the upmost respect for my clients, human and animal, and their homes, routines, and preferences.

A typical day
I am here to do whatever is best for the pet and pet parents. I love being active and am up for playing inside or outside to your pet's desire and the weather, and I also love to provide love, cuddles, pets, and company to more laid-back pets. I know how to balance the two for pets who like both, as well as how to respect the space and boundaries of pets who like alone time and space, or are more to themselves. I am not shy when it comes to playing with pets-if you're looking for someone who will get down to the floor to play with or pet your furry friend, I'm your gal!
