Your Dog's Vacation Home!

Pet care experience

About this sitter: Dogs have captured my interest since childhood, and in 2000 I began dog-sitting to gain the doggie interaction I desired. Transitioning to Boarding in 2003, gave me the unique opportunity to regularly transitioning new dogs of various sizes, ages, breeds, and personalities into our home with a minimum of frustration and destruction. Training and behavior modification have also been long-time fascinations. In 2009 and 2010, I had the opportunity to Foster Train for a local service dog organization. Those were pivotal stepping stones in my training career, and the private lessons I received from their staff of professionals launched me into the dog training world. In 2017, I welcomed one of their puppies into our home to raise and train for three months. Why I love dog sitting I have had an interest in dogs for as long as I can remember. Our family didn't have a pet dog when I was growing up, so I turned to dog sitting to be around the animals I loved. Meet my pets Ours is a busy six-person household, and offers a great socialization opportunity for dogs of any age. We like to love on other people's animals, and have no pets of our own. About my yard Our backyard is fenced and is a decent size. We have grass and a small gravel area. I don't generally allow the dogs to remain out back unattended for extended periods of time. My experience administering medication Yes! I worked as a surgery tech at a local Spay and Neuter clinic and am familiar with injectable and oral medications. Your dog's medical care does not take a vacation, and I'm happy to accommodate it during his stay.

My dog family had an extended stay with Leighann this summer and the entire experience from the initial meet/greet, the follow up conversations, scheduling, communication throughout their stay, photos, drop off and pick up... the whole process, exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend Leighann for any boarding and/or training services. She is a true professional and would take the care of your pet very seriously.

We were very happy with our dog's stay with Leighann. She is very professional and extremely knowledgeable about dogs. She's very organized and great at keeping in touch. Our dog is a senior who has had separation issues in the past and he seemed comfortable with her. We will happily leave him in Leigann's competent care again!

This was my first time ever having my two fur babies boarded so I had a lot of anxiety when searching for a dog sitter since I hadn’t heard about rover.com before. Once a friend told me about the service, I was excited to begin the search for a dog sitter who can make my dogs feel like they’re at home while I’m away. Leighann was one of my top picks and after the meet-and-greet, it felt like it was meant to be. Marleau and Suki seemed to have enjoyed their stay at Leighann’s house and I was happy to receive updates and photos from her throughout the weekend. I also appreciate her taking them on walks even when the weather was gloomy. I am looking forward to having them stay with her again in the future!

I was extremely nervous to leave Blossom with anyone for the first time because she is very high energy and we still have a long way to go with her training. Leighann made me feel confident that Blossom would be well taken care of, and I was able to relax and enjoy my vacation! We will definitely reach out to her next time we need boarding.

Information Leighann H. would like to know about your pet

I've cared for many different sizes, ages and personalities over the years. From 6lb Pomeranians to 122lb Great Danes, and from adolescent Golden Retrievers to senior Labradors. I love the diversity that boarding offers! When submitting a boarding request, it's always helpful when owners include their dog's age, breed and estimated weight. More importantly, though, I like to get a picture of their energy level and orientation to people. Knowing what kind of lifestyle and home environment they're used to also helps me plan. I do not currently exclude any breeds from my Boarding Program.

A typical day

Here's what you can expect when your dog stays with me! A Home Environment. Boarding your dog with me, means he lives almost exactly as he would in your home. I want our house become your dog's vacation home! Minimal Crate-Time. Crate time is kept to a minimum at our house, and we love it that way! I do not, however, maintain a Crate-Free environment. With your dog's safety in mind, I have made it my policy to crate all dogs when no one is home. This usually averages to 8-10 hours a week. Additional management crating is determined based upon my assessment of the dog. If your dog is unaccustomed to crating, an additional overnight assessment may be necessary to determine the appropriateness of my services for your dog. Exercise. Walking is considered a necessity-- not an extra-- for me. My boarders receive 5-7 walks per week at no extra charge. These usually last 20-30 minutes and take place in the neighborhood, or through the very small strip center nearby. When my schedule allows for it, I enjoy taking my boarders to explore new neighborhoods and walking routes. Enrichment. I love to see my boarders engaged and mentally enriched during their time with us! We feed meals through interactive, food-dispensing toys. Your dog's sleeping arrangement All dogs sleep indoors in their crates. *Several things to Note: 1) I require a Meet and Greet prior to booking any new dogs. For this reason, it can be hard for me to accommodate last minute requests (less than one week notice). 2) I am happy to host dogs of all ages! Please note my distinct rate structure: adults (over 18 months--$28), adolescents (six to 18 months --$37), and puppies (six to twenty-four weeks old--$52). 3) The nightly rate includes 24hrs of care. For extended care, an additional fee applies.
