“You can judge a man's true character by the way he treats his fellow animals.” ― Paul McCartney I love all animals except the 8 legged kind :) I love the ...furry, scaly, hoofed, slimy and many others. I believe they are part of families, therapeutic, smart, have personalities and should be treated with respect and decency. I have a 9 year old son that loves animals as much as I do. I believe children should be exposed to some sort of animal at some time in their lives. It teaches them the responsibility of caring for another living being as well as develops a compassion for them. I've had pets and personal contact with dogs, cats, birds, snakes, lizards, rabbits, rats, hamsters, frogs, and turtles. Also, I have had to rescue many creatures that my cat Mario has brought in through the cat door... squirrels, bats, moles, mice, dragonflies, birds, rabbits and voles. So, I guess you can say I have dealt with many different species. :) Currently, I have a Catahoula named Zeus and 2 cats, Simon and Mario. I would eventually love to own an iguana or bearded dragon. I have fostered dogs and cats. In fact, Zeus was a foster that I ended up adopting when my friend couldn't keep him. I believe he is still bonded with them and she sees him whenever she wants. After all she is Mama #1! I've also fostered another dog and kitten. The dog was 10 yrs old and blind and deaf and the kitten was too young to be adopted out and very timid and didn't want human contact. After he was with me for 3 weeks he was bouncing around and happy like all kittens should. I also hand raised a kitten that lost his mama when he was a week old. I bottle feed him and wiped his little butt until he was able to on his own. I had him for 13 yrs. I do work a full time day job so I am only available on the weekends and evenings to walk dogs and for drop-ins for any animal. I am also willing to board animals. Zeus doesn't really care for dogs his size but he is great with cats and small dogs. I will even be willing to provide services for 8 legged creatures even though they make my skin crawl...but I ain't touchin' 'em! :) I would love to help out as much as I can and, if possible, would love to be allowed to involve my son in the experience.
