Pet care experience
I have been volunteering with animals for over 5 years. I live in the Hudson Valley after 8 years in NYC, and now I help take care of my sister's dog, as well as my friends' dogs and cats when they have to travel. I also took care of a former roommate's lab mix for 2 years. I volunteered with the ASPCA, worked with horses and children with disabilities in animal therapy sessions, and I am writing an M.A. thesis on human-elephant conflict in Thailand, which I visited in January 2020. I learned how to properly train dogs with the ASPCA, including dogs with histories of abuse and/or neglect. Animal welfare and conservation are both very important to me. Finally, now that I'm back in my hometown in the Hudson Valley, I have more free time and I want to spend it taking care of your pet!

Leah took excellent care of Luna for a whole month! She made sure Luna was comfortable in her new home and she also bought her food and treats when they ran out. I would definitely be comfortable leaving Luna with her in the future.

A typical day
I love the small parks around New York. If there is a park nearby I will take the dogs to the park to soak up some sun and lay around or to run around, depending on the dog's wants. In addition, I like to take long walks along the Hudson so if we are near the water, we can go for long walks along the water. I also enjoy teaching dogs small tricks if the owner and the dog are up for it.
