Pet care experience
Hello! A little about me & my approach: I have dedicated the last 15 years in rescue as a foster & adoption volunteer, as well as dog training experience using humane, purely positive reinforcement (R+), scientifically-based force-free principles. I am a Certified Behavior Consultant Canine and trainer through CCPDT. I have a particular desire to help those dogs experiencing challenges (impulse control, reactivity, anxiety, fear, and aggression) in successfully navigating the human and canine worlds. With me, you have a dedicated caretaker who forms a relationship based on trust, care, and cooperation with focus on a highly enriching, mentally stimulating, and fun-loving environment. I am confident with all sizes, breeds, and behavior spectrum. Whether you have a senior who needs cuddles and snuggles, or a high-energy pup who requires guided play and lots of exercise, I will care for your dog with the same level of affection and dedication as I would my own pups (to me, they are all pups at heart — irrespective of numerical age!) I am happy to work with your pup on basic obedience, leash manners, guest greeting, and guided play as a part of our walk and/or stay. If you have a training regimen and/or a trainer in place, I am happy to continue that work as requested. Your pup's sessions will be filled with photos and videos for you to enjoy throughout the day. Meet & Greet: I offer a complimentary meet & greet and 30 min walk for you, your dog(s) and I to get to know one another and establish a rapport. If you are working with a trainer and would like to set up additional meet and greet sessions for your trainer to establish a particular walking/overnight stay protocol for me with your dog, I offer this add-on service.

Information Leah C. would like to know about your pet
Prior to our meet and greet, I would love to touch base by phone and get to know a little about your dog's general behavior around the house and out in the world. For example: - Does your pup have an any dietary or medical restrictions? - Do you have any reservations with using treats, praise, petting to positively reinforce desired behaviors? - What is their general reaction to meeting new people and or dogs? (ie. happy wags and loose body language, or stiff, vocal and hackles up) - Is this behavior the same at home as it is out in the world? - Are there any triggers that make your dog uncomfortable? (loud noises, children running by, bicycles, etc.) - When your dog demonstrates a behavior that you find undesirable, what is your preferred method to stop the behavior? - Are there any routines or training aids with which I should become familar?
A typical day
Our adventures can include hiking, beach going, fetch... the sky is the limit-- let me know your dogs favorites and I can make it happen. For Dogs In Need of Space, I have a great repertoire of places to exercise and mental enrichment games and toys to get their doggie needs met.
