Life w/o pets, fur, & kisses? Nah!
Pet care experience
I've had pets in my life since I was born and would often make my cats and dog be part of my pretend play. I was also the kid at sleepovers that only ever wanted to play the pet role(s) - whether it was with Barbies or playing house. My main goal as a child was to someday grow up and marry Brett Favre (Wisconsin native here), and if that didn't work out, then I really just wanted to become a dog. Over the years, my family raised several puppies and kittens. The most recent kitty just passed away at almost 22-years-old!

You will be the luckiest dog owner to have Leah care for your dog! I have known Leah for over 24 years and have watched her love and care for all dogs she meets as if they were her own. As long as I’ve known Leah, she has had a dog and/or has fostered a dog. She is a kind, compassionate, responsible, and respectful person, who will not only take exceptional care of your dog, but will also be an absolute joy to be around if you choose her! I wish she lived by me so she could care for my two silly pups!
Leah is an amazing human first of all! I have seen her around numerous animals, especially dogs and she treats them all the same, with the same love, compassion, and friendliness that makes her an animal lover! She is amazing with my dog and I wouldn't even think twice about her watching him!

I'm not currently in a living situation where I can take pets into my own home, but I am more than willing to come into the pet's home and have them be most comfortable in their environment! This includes playing with them in their yard and/or taking them for walks or to a park. I am very respectful of the space and home, and want to leave things exactly how I found them or even better. I will also follow any feeding guidelines that are best for each pet. I like to read and respond to the signals that pets convey as far as what level of contact they prefer and how much space they need. If they enjoy receiving chin scratches but the ears are a no-go? Rodger that! If they don't believe in the concept of personal space and enjoy cuddling fully in my lap? Bring it on! I can be as flexible as needed to make sure I'm meeting them where they're at and with what they need.
Information Leah B. would like to know about your pet
I would love to know about your pup's personality! Favorite toys, activities, body scratches, cuddle spots, etc. as well as any places, objects, or situations that might cause them discomfort or fear. It's very helpful to know their signs for when they're happy, when they're feeling pooped, or when it's close to reaching their limit for interaction and they might need some space or passive company. Also, any guidelines around medical, nutrition, and/or social needs are incredibly helpful.
A typical day
I am fairly new to the area so would love to get to know the neighorhood(s) and explore new places together! If your pup has a special path, hike, or park, I'd love to take them there and become more familiar with it as well as finding new places with new sights and smells. There is no such thing as too many dog cuddles and I'm happy to adjust to whatever your pup needs, whether it's lots of indoor/outdoor activity, lots of passive cuddling, or a combination of both!

I recently relocated from Wisconsin to the New Jersey/NYC area after the end of a relationship. Part of this move included leaving behind both of my pups, a lab mix and a rottweiler-mastiff mix. It was one of the hardest things I've ever done but I knew it wouldn't be fair to them to be separated or have to acclimate to big city life. So far I've gotten to fill up my puppy love meter by helping my sister dog-sit for three pups and I realized just how much I miss getting to pet, cuddle, and walk dogs. I will soon be commuting into NYC during the week for work but am wide open in the evenings and on weekends. I'm happy to be out in the elements for walks - rain or shine!
