Absolutely love taking care of dogs

Pet care experience

I cannot imagine life without my animals. Thinking of my two dogs, cat, and horse brings a smile to my face every time. I've had pets as far as I can remember and cared for horses professionally for over 10 years in a past life. Though my experiences with animals I have learned when to be gentle and when to be firm, when to give and when to take, and recognise what a dog is trying to tell me. I am currently the proud companion to Dexter, an eight year old Boxer, and Snoop, a six year old rescue whose breed we can't agree on. They're both amazing dogs, we walk together every day, enjoy play time in our fenced yard, and lounge around when we tire ourselves out. I would be happy to walk your dog(s) with mine, or separately if that is what they'd prefer. Both of my dogs are well trained on leash and provide a great example to other pack members. We also have a cat who loves his dogs. He will often play and cuddle with them. He warms up to new dogs quickly and had a soft subtle approach as he knows some dogs are not as affectionate as others.

Information Lea M. would like to know about your pet

For walking, please let me know how they are on leash and their general temperament around other dogs. Do they have any triggers (my dog isn't a big fan of bicycles so we keep a wide berth)? Any health issues, or potential conditions, would they prefer a flat walk or something more adventurous with inclines? For pet sitting, what can they have as treats, what can't they have? Do they like to play? How do they like to play? When do they like to be let out? Do they bark? We would prefer medium and large breed dogs, but won't rule any dog out on breed. No dogs that can't be trusted with a cat please.

A typical day

We go for walks every day. Usually for 35-45 minutes at a time so the dogs don't get too hot in the summer or too cold in the winter. In the spring and fall this isn't a concern and we can go on much longer walks. In the summer we try to get out early morning and late evening every day through the heat waves as Dexter can't handle the really hot weather. We try to switch it up every day as we have a lot of walking options. Most days we'll hit the walking trail and shoot off into forest trails if the bugs aren't too bad. We also regularly walk but the river, there's multiple paths so it always feels a little different. We also have a couple of regular routes through suburban and rural streets, with cut through parks and schools. Our dogs love going out every day and we love taking them. We anyways bring water if it's hot out and take breaks if the little guys look like they could use one. We also have a fenced yard which we use for spirited games like fetch and tug. Our dogs love to cuddle with us on the couch, but can also be found lying on the floor on rare occasions. Dexter and Snoop don't bark, but Snoop will let out an occasional howl in his sleep (so cute). We don't mind a dog that makes a little noise but nobody in the house will encourage it either.
