Comfortable and fun stay for pups!

Pet care experience

Hi I'm Layla, I have 2 dogs. They are the sweetest and can be the goofiest dogs at times. I love being around animals and adore the joy and unconditional love that they bring! I'll treat your dog as I do my own (lots of love and lots of toys). I do everything I can to make your dog feel safe and have a great time! I have a huge fenced backyard that your pups will be able to run around all day long as well as having unrestricted access between the backyard and inside. Your dogs safety is my top priority. They will be under constant supervision to ensure they are safe at all times. I also offer a Meet-and-Greet between your dogs and mine in case you would like to see how they are. Military Friendly! I offer 10% military discount and also offer the option of dropping your pups off before PT.

My 9 month old puppy stayed with Layla over Easter weekend. She was expected to stay there 5 days and 4 nights. However her visit ended 3 days shorter. The backstory is that my pup was injured a week before this scheduled trip that I had. A few days before dropping her off my pup was a doggy daycare, her wound reopened. I told Layla. She suggested me taking my pup to the vet before bringing her over, which was good advice. The vet said she needed antibiotics and to clean her wound 2 times a day. She should be fine with other dogs while I’m on vacation. Layla said that was fine. I am a very upset client. For two main reasons; 1) I wasn't notified that my dog was in distress until Layla couldn’t deal with it anymore 2) Layla lashed out on me and threatened to give my dog a bad review on Rover. Layla told me Saturday morning everything was going fine and my pup was playing nicely with her pups. She texted me pictures! The next day around Easter dinner, I got missed calls and a text saying my dog needed to be relocated or picked up by someone else. She said she tried everything she could to help her. I do believe she had good intentions. However, I am very upset I wasn’t notified early Sunday morning that my pup was having separation anxiety and acting manic! I was in disbelief. I started asking questions to try to understand the situation. She lacked basic COMMUNICATION. She said she had to separate my pup. That my pup was howling and crying. This made me concerned. How long and where was she separated? Was she comforted during her anxiety episodes? Did Layla try to simulate her mind with a bone or kong to help with anxiety? Questions and concerns, I should have known beforehand. I am now left to make assumptions because she didn’t directly communicate with me what was happening. I would have liked to problem solve and come up with solutions. These odd dog behaviors should have been communicated to the dog owner. My puppy was in PAIN! She said my pup was howling all night long and it was stressing the other dogs. ((My pup is a hound. Hounds are vocal dogs. It takes a trained dog personnel to be able to quiet a hound down... My puppy has never cried all night long.)) Obviously this would make the environment stressful for everyone. I had to ask a lot of questions to Layla on how she was handing the situation. I didn’t get clear answers and the situation seemed confusing. What went so wrong that she couldn't deal with my pup anymore? I should have been notified that morning that my pup was suffering from anxiety separation. Layla should have contacted the vet for the safety of my pup and the other dogs to get advice. There wasn’t much I could do to help out when she let me know later that evening. I had poor service and it was Easter dinner with family and friends. The bottom line is I think she’s inexperience with dogs. I believe it would be beneficial for her to understand erratic dog behavior. For example; wounded, sick, and separation anxiety for dogs. Unfortunately accidents happen. She needs to be able to take charge and try new methods when a dog isn’t responding well. I’m disappointed she gave up on mine. She lashed out on me and threatened to write a bad review about my puppy. It seems she’s taking her frustrations with me, out on my puppy. In the future I would recommend being very clear with Layla. Communication is very important. If you’re dog is injured or sick you might want to make sure she can handle the situation beforehand. If your dog is taking new medications, I would make sure she has some knowledge on how those medications can change a dogs behavior. My mistake was not being clear with her. I thought I made it clear that she should contact me with any concerns about my pup! I was worried that she might be too overwhelmed at a new place and not get the attention/accommodations she needs. This has been my first bad experience with a Rover employee.

Layla and her husband are amazing sitters! Sending pictures and videos of showing how Koda was doing. I work super early so it was awesome that they were still willing to watch him! Definitely will be back!
