Furry friends are the best!
Pet care experience
Hello! Thank you for trusting me with your beloved furry friends. I have taken care of animals since I was 10 years old and became the primary caretaker for my elder cat and doggo in the past few years. My friends and family come to me when they need a break from the hard work of being a pet parent that many of us can relate to. I take in my friends and families pets for long periods of time when on vacation, attending work related events, or just simply need time to themselves. My family dog, Charlie is a hyper and stubborn labor doodle that requires lots of exercise, playtime and discipline. I was able to train him to ring a bell placed by the front door every time he needs to go to the bathroom to eliminate his high pitched barks. Charlie was also food obsessed and had no self control when it came to stealing human food. I was able to recognize that this act was a need for control and a result of him being under stimulated and bored. This bad habit was completely replaced by implementing more exercise, playtime and treats (when behaving) into his daily routine. This resulted in him never stealing food again. Charlie also used to be a leash puller, I used the “heel and wait” technique and now when we go for a walk he stays by my side. I also have a precious calico cat named Matilda. She is an elder cat at 16 years old. Now that she is an elder she presents small changes in routine and body language that are only recognized by observation. Since cats can’t obviously express discomfort, it is up to the caretaker to recognize changes and frequencies of sleeping positions, pitch and frequencies of their meows, the appearance of their coat, changes of attitude, differences in breathing and many more often unrecognized signs of a sick or sad kitty. These minor signs can help the cat parent recognize and adjust accordingly. Ex: diet, air quality, toys & beds, filtered water, easy access to your kitties favorite windows and more. By observing my own cat I was able to make the decision to have her be examined by the veterinarian and ultimately be diagnosed with kidney disease and hyperthyroidism which is common among older cats. I have a strong passion for helping animals have the best lives they can have and I hope to care for your furry friend as I would my own!
Reviews
One of the best workers, always reliable, and is always on time. Never have to worry about anything when it comes to being responsible. Has been working with me for years. Definitely recommend!
After Layla watched my cat, she suggested that I make a more accessible cat perch for my elder cat and now it is easier for him to access him favorite spot by the window. I trust Layla and have no doubts about how much she cares. Terrific, no complaints.
When Layla signs on to walk your dog, she doesn't just show up and go through the motions, but makes sure to connect with your pet. She will give your fur baby all the love and attention they need along with the necessary exercise. She is sweet, trustworthy and cares about your pets well-being and will leave them happy. I highly recommend.
