I come from a long background in animal care. Dogs in particular, but I have owned cats as well. I owned, trained, showed/competed, bred and raised Akitas for 23 years. I first started in Agility and Obedience, then moved onto Conformation and Breeding. I owned/operated a small hobby kennel by the name of Shobo Akitas. I owner trained and handled all of my dogs winning many titles in various competitions. I also handled various other breeds in the conformation ring including Australian Shepherds, Labrador Retrievers and Siberian Huskies. I have extensive experience with grooming, administering medication and shots, as well as emergency care. I retired from the Fire Department after 31 years service, have no animals and the time to take care of yours! As a FYI- I go back and forth (snowbird) between Milwaukee, WI ,<summer/fall> and Fort Myers, FL <winter/spring> Exact times vary. I do keep my profile updated. *I will be returning to FL Mid Oct (18th or 25th) 2026* I have clients in both locations. PLEASE BE ADVISED- I DO NOT PROVIDE CONSTANT CARE. I live out of your home, I come and go as my own, I sleep there. If your looking for someone who will be at your home all day or only leave for brief periods of time (all considered constant care), I do not provide those services. If an overnight street parking permit is required, there is an additional fee you will be charged depending on city requirements. Thank you :-)

I don't board, but I take care of your pets in your home as close to their normal schedule/routine as possible. Their safety and comfort is my #1 priority!!!

We are so grateful to have found Laurie! She spent a week with our 9 month old Bernedoodle puppy, skillfully managing his sometimes "challenging" energies. We appreciated the daily pictures, the regular contact, and her insightful feedback and training tips grounded in her experience with dogs. Our house was well-cared for, and all was well when we arrived home. We also appreciated her managing an unfortunate "casualty" in our aquarium! We would absolutely hire her again. Thank you Laurie!
Laurie is awesome! Super attentive and I never worried about Fern while I was gone. Appreciated the frequent updates from her.
She treated Tucker like he was her own dog and we are grateful to have her help while we were in Florida for the month.

Schedule
I am retired and have no animals of my own, so I have the time to devote to yours. I do however come and go when house sitting, so if you need constant care, I am unable to accommodate that.

- No breed preference. I am strong and experienced enough to handle any size. I would like to met any dog I am caring for prior. I would like to know the dogs schedule because I know how disruptive and stressful any change of that can be for them. My goal is to keep them as stress free and happy as possible while owners are away.
