Pet care experience

I grew up caring for the dogs in my family. First, there was Duffy, a fluffy golden retriever-collie mix who let me use him as a pillow. Sadly, he passed away when I was 10 (he was 16!). Then there was Buddy, an energetic Australian shepherd mix whom I named after Air Bud even though it turned out he didn't like basketball. Buddy and I went on lots of walks and runs together. He was "my" dog, as in, I was responsible for feeding him and letting him outside, etc. until I moved away for college. He lived to the ripe old age of 17. Now my parents have Rufus, an 80-pound black lab/hound mix with a distinct hound howl. When I visit I'm responsible for feeding Rufus, filling his water bowl, letting him outside, taking him on walks and giving him lots of belly rubs and pets. In addition a to caring for my family dogs, I've regularly dog sat and cat sat for friends. Some of those homes have dogs and cats, so I'm comfortable caring for both.

Lauren is an amazing caretaker of both our 10-year old cat, Morrison, and our 2-year old lab, Beatrix, but she is especially popular with Beatrix! Lauren strikes the perfect balance of kindness and discipline, indulging in lots of attention and snuggles while reinforcing good behavior (“good girl!”) and correcting bad behavior (“get your nose outta there!”). She’s a total natural when walking Beatrix on her leash and stays alert and aware of her interactions with other humans and animals. Lauren is an enthusiastic, warm, and responsible person who any pup would be lucky to spend time with!

Lauren has a love of dogs partially because she has lived around them since she was born. She has cared for her three family dogs since she was old enough to do so. She has also pet sat for others. She would be a perfect candidate for a Rover caregiver.

I'm so glad that Lauren was able to stay and take care of my dog last weekend! She did a visit to meet Daphne, our nervous dog, before staying and that went great. Within minutes, pup pup warmed up to Lauren and her calm presence. She gave me updates and thumbs-up's over the weekend to ensure me that all was well. I appreciated that Lauren took Daphne to the dog park, and on walks and adventures. We came home to a happy dog-I knew my Daphne was in the best hands with Lauren!

Information Lauren T. would like to know about your pet

I'd like to know the age and energy level of the dog, and if they need any medication. I love all dogs, so I don't have a breed preference.

A typical day

I'm happy walking, running, and playing with your dog in your house, backyard, or out and about in Ann Arbor. I live on the Old West Side, so walks (and runs for energetic dogs!) would take place around the neighborhood and parks like West Park. I love Bird Hills and can take dogs on hikes there, or at Nichols Arboretum. If they're registered for the Ann Arbor dog parks, I'll take them there, too.
