Walk, run, play...you name it!

Pet care experience

Background: SoCal native who has been accustomed to being around dogs of all shapes and sizes. Growing up, my family has had a Cocker Spaniel, German Shepherd, Golden Retriever, Pomeranian, and a little dude (mixed breed) that we found abandoned in a YMCA parking lot. My parents continue to call my dogs back home my "brothers" even though I have three [human] brothers, so we can all chalk that up to weird or adorable. P.S. I dig cats too! Specifics: - I enjoy low-key weekends but sometimes have plans with friends but I'm never away for too long (several hours). Your pup(s) or feline friend(s) will have my undivided attention! - Pet care experience for others (5+ years) is different than actual pet owning experience (the majority of my life). - I lead an active lifestyle and enjoy being outside as much as I can (e.g. sports, hiking, etc.). - A full-time community-based worker in Boston neighborhoods (JP, Roxbury, West Roxbury, Dorchester, Mattapan, etc.). Access to a car and maintain a relatively flexible schedule. *If you're a little further from my typical work sites, then I will be upfront about when I am able to provide your pets afternoon walk/lunch if that is part of their routine. - I will love and care for your pet as if it was my own, truly.

Let me start by saying we do not take writing poor reviews lightly. In general, we were pretty disappointed with how things went. After a fantastic meet and greet, and going over schedules and talking about our dogs, we felt very comfortable with Lauren. Communication leading up to the stay was great. Fortunately for us, and maybe less so for Lauren, we have a Ring video doorbell and we were able to see her arrivals and departures. She arrived an hour later than the agreed upon start time, and then departed the house in the early evening (around 5pm). At around 10pm, we were a little concerned that she had not returned, maybe our pups didn't get dinner, etc., but thought about waiting a bit longer. At 11pm, when she'd still not returned home, we reached out via the Rover app to make sure she was ok or if something happened that we need to make adjustments for. She wrote back with an excuse about needing to be drive a loved one back and forth from the Emergency Room, but she returned to our home within the next 30 minutes. Of course, this is a situation we're very empathetic to, we just wish she'd been forthcoming and communicated with us in case we needed someone else to stop by and let the dogs out. On Monday, a work day, she left for the day a bit earlier than she'd originally told us she would leave and did not return to the house until 11 hours later. We were very clear with her that our dogs cannot be left for longer than 8 hours without a bathroom break (this wasn't going to be an issue when we discussed availability at the meet and greet) - and when we inquired about how the day went, she lied saying she'd stopped by midday to check on our pups. This clearly was not the case according to our video doorbell. On the last day, she departed our house in the morning an hour earlier than we'd agreed upon - but delayed telling us when she left to make it seem as though she left on time. We returned with a note left from Lauren on the counter. She admitted to lying about when she was at the house, and that she felt bad. Ultimately, we were glad to return home to our pups, but the lack of communication, blatant lies, and disregard for the well-being of our pups is irresponsible.

Lauren is great. Evident she clearly "knows" dogs when you see her interact with them, takes great care of both of mine when I'm gone, is communicative, flexible with timing, and just does an excellent overall job.

Lauren was wonderful with our sometimes unpredictable (but lovable) dog. She kept us updated with photos and reports, was always upbeat and cheerful, took good care of our house, and even stayed late into the evening until we got home. We would happily ask her to dog sit again!
