Flexible, passionate, animal lover!

Pet care experience

I have cared for dogs and other pets since I was a child. Neighbors would pay me to watch, walk, and bathe their dogs from a young age. I have a lot of personal experience caring for my own animals as well. I always had dogs growing up and currently care for 2 cats. I have a deep connection, understanding, respect, and love for animals and treat every animal as my own! While I can accommodate dogs in my current home (that are okay with cats), most of my previous bookings have focused mainly on in home house/pet sitting or dog walking. I love all animals and have cared for not only dogs, but plenty of cats as well and even reptiles, rodents, bunnies, chickens, goats, and birds! I have no breed or weight restrictions. I’ve worked with many dogs on those lists and they have all been sweetie pies and some of my favorites!! As long as you can ensure safety on my end, I am well versed in working with aggressive or ostracized breeds. I don’t discriminate and dislike the stigma certain breeds get. I’m open to all varieties and have great experiences with most!!

Lauren exceeded our expectations and then some. We booked her to house sit our senior dog, Riley, while we were away for the weekend. The night before we left town, unexpected health issues came up with our 19-year-old cat, Gypsy, who we had to take to the emergency vet. She was diagnosed with kidney disease and cancer... Her appetite was gone and we needed someone to give her medication and keep a close eye on the litterbox through the weekend. Lauren took on the extra, last-minute responsibility without complaint. This was our first time using her services and we had only met her a few days prior, but she had left such a good first impression that we decided not to cancel our weekend trip even though we had just received such a heavy diagnosis. We knew our girls would be in good hands, and they certainly were! There aren't enough stars I could give to convey just how much it meant to have the peace of mind Lauren was able to provide. She was so kind and kept us regularly updated with how things were going. She cuddled Gypsy when she didn't feel good and didn't want to be alone. Riley ate and played, which is normally difficult for her when we're away because she gets depressed. Both girls warmed up to Lauren quickly, which is saying something because they can both be a bit sassy and definitely picky about who they let in their inner circle! Lauren left our home in great condition; she really respected the space. It's clear she's comfortable around many different animals and their individual needs. We 100% recommend Lauren and will definitely be using her services again!

Lauren took excellent care of our dogs! We would recommend her to anyone. Our dogs were happy and relaxed. She went above and beyond, and took care of them just like we would.

I like to care for pets in a way that caters to their specific needs and preferences. I am very easy going and open to pretty much anything, from cuddling on the couch or bed, to crating a dog if that is part of their normal routine. I just want your pets to feel comfortable, and my home is your pets home when they stay with me! When house sitting or making home visits, I am extremely respectful to leave things as I found them and respect whatever rules and/or boundaries apply. Whatever the daily care plan is I will stick to that religiously and if any changes occur I value open communication with you about your pets needs and what will work best for them. I am very flexible and can go with the flow when it comes to changes in routine or schedule. While I have plenty of client reviews on the Rover app I have also cared for many clients animals off app and would be more than happy to provide any additional references if you’d like.

Information Lauren M. would like to know about your pet

For me personally it is important to know a typical care plan for your pet, or a day in the life almost! The more I know, the better I can make sure your pets needs are being met and that they are as comfortable as possible. Any allergies, medications, things to avoid, etc. are very helpful to know. Also, typical feeding and walking times or what their regular schedule looks like is always good to know.

A typical day

I live near a great dog park that is just a short walk from my home. I’m also more than happy to take your pups on nearby hiking trails, streams, or to other nearby parks if you’d like me to! I have extensive knowledge about all parks available in and around the Asheville area (due to my nannying experience) that are dog friendly. I’ve also been a dog handler in a wedding and was recently asked to be in a previous clients wedding to care for the dog and clients needs on their special day! I’ve also taken dogs to activities around town such as “photos with Santa” and other dog specific activities that our community has to offer!

I currently work as a server several nights a week at a local restaurant downtown. Other than that I am fairly flexible and have lots of availability to meet your needs. I took some time off from Rover due my previous work schedule but now that I have more availability I am reactivating my Rover account to accept new and repeat clients.
