Pet/House Sitter: Animal Background

Pet care experience

I’m an animal lover to the core! After earning my degree in Biology, I went on to care for and work directly with animals. For 4 years, I was responsible for daily care and training of the ambassador animals at the Tennessee Aquarium, including small mammals, fish, reptiles, amphibians and insects. I’ve been an in-home dog sitter for several wonderful people around Chattanooga, caring for mostly dogs, but also cats, fish, tarantulas, parrots and snakes. I’m comfortable with complex feeding schedules, in-progress pet training, and administering medications, plus anything else you can throw at me. I love getting to know your pet and caring for them in the best possible way to give you peace of mind. I’m really active, so if your pup has a lot of energy and drive, I’ll happily bring them along for a run or hike. I prefer to meet you and your pets, learn their schedule and routine and get to know them a bit before taking care of them. My experience with animal training and care and love for all animals allow me to meet your pet’s needs in the ways best for you and for them. I look forward to meeting you!!

I would highly recommend Lauren. She took great care of my dog, communicated on a daily basis, left detailed notes about his daily doings and left my house spotless. I will definitely call on her the next time I travel.

Safety, trust & environment

Getting to know your pet’s personalities, care, and routine at home is extremely important to me. I take almost daily runs/hikes and will happily bring pups along if you’d like - as long as they do well in these environments and get along with other dogs/people. I also love visiting dog parks, am happy to take your pet to training, lessons, or puppy play dates and will be sure to give them lots of love and attention. Many of my close friends also have dogs/cats, so if you have a social puppy, we can get in some fun play time together!

Information Lauren L. would like to know about your pet

I love all breeds of dogs, cats and beyond! I prefer to meet your pet before caring for them so we can get to know one another and I can learn their feeding/exercise routine as well as any special nuances of their personality and care. Usually this includes things like medication, training, favorite toys, typical walking paths, if/when they get treats, how they do with other dogs/animals, how they respond to other people, what to do if your dog gets sick while you're away and so on. An initial meet and greet is the best way for me to provide excellent care for your pet!

A typical day

I love to walk around downtown Chattanooga and frequently hike/run at Racoon, Signal and Lookout Mountains - especially on weekends. In the summer, I spend a lot of time in the water, so if your pup is a swimmer, we will have a great time. I have several years of animal training experience and love to figure out the best ways to play and socialize with each animal I meet.. whether that’s fetch, tug, a cricket snack, feather toys, or belly rubs, I’ll always be sure your pet gets the kind of attention and stimulation they need to be happy and healthy!

I currently teach from 8:30-3:30 each week day, working remotely on Monday, Tuesday, & Thursday afternoons. As long as you don’t mind sharing WiFi access, I’m available to stay with your pets during those afternoon, plus weekday evenings/nights, and on the weekends. I prefer to care for animals in their own spaces as they are typically more comfortable and happier staying at home. However, I am open to discussing boarding options if that’s more convenient for you.
