Pet care experience
I have lived with a dog since the age of 6. My first dog, Webster, was a German Shepherd-Border Collie mix. My current doggie, Tank, is a Boston Terrier-Pit Bull mix. As a dog owner, I enjoy indoor & outdoor playtime, walks (weather permitting!), and, of course, pets & cuddles. I was also fortunate enough to grow up with a cat, Cosmo. Outside of being a personal lover of pets, I have experience caring for animals beginning in high school. When my friend and her family went on vacations, I frequently went over to see her dog, Bear, and cat, Joey. I fed them and stayed for pets and playtime! In college, I worked as a daily dog walker of a sweet 12 year-old shih tzu named Maggie.

Lauren is a recent UVM graduate from Westport Mass. Sweetest, nicest girl you’d ever meet. Loves animals, always extremely polite, professional, and responsible. She’ll watch animals like they’re her own. Highly recommend.
Lauren is a very attentive and timely dog walker! She walked my two shih tzus for the past year and she will be greatly missed! Highly recommend!!!

When creating a relationship with a new pet, I find it important to allow the dog or cat to approach me at their own pace. An important part of establishing comfort is allowing for sniffing and inspecting; I try to position myself in a manner that makes dogs understand I am not being aggressive. Also, using positive, happy communication to greet the pet is a great way to help establish comfort. In regard to entering houses specifically, I am always alert for potential space by my feet for a pet to run out. Most importantly, I am eager to learn from each pet's owner about their pet's personality and what they know is best for them!

A typical day
I love spending a lot of time outdoors running around and playing with toys. I typically walk dogs throughout neighborhoods where they can be stimulated by the smell of other dogs! The Westport Town Farm is also a great, open walking location. After getting energy out, I love finding time for pets and cuddles in a shady or cool location!

My current schedule is very flexible due to the part-time and remote nature of my work. I am available to frequently make home visits throughout the day and/or provide morning/afternoon walks.
