Growing up my family always had a pet of some sort. From when I was born to about age six, we had a German Shepherd and a cat. After both passed away, we immediately got another dog, a beagle mix. From when she was a puppy, she experienced severe anxiety during thunderstorms. I often had to console her, staying up all night to do so. I gave her anxiety medication as well as her cancer medication. Though the medication slowed the growth of her tumors, it also destroyed her muscles. I had to help her stand up, sit down, and navigate the stairs. After her passing, we got two new puppies. At this time, I was old enough to play a major role in the training of them.
