Pet care experience
I grew up caring for cats and dogs and then began pet sitting when I moved to Washington, DC in 2017. During grad school, I worked at a pet food store for two years, which included extensive training in pet nutrition and training. In the last 6 years, I have helped house and pet sit for more than 10 families. Most house sits were for two weeks or longer. My longest pet sit was for 4 months, caring for a large home in NE Washington, DC. I have experience giving oral and injected medication to dogs, caring for plants, and taking pets to vet appointments. I'm always sure to send pictures and keep in touch with pet owners to assure them their loved one is safe and cared for.

We were unbelievably happy with he dog sitting service that Ms. Acker provided us during our anniversary trip. She was very responsible, receptive to our requests and even sent us videos and photos of our dog having fun at the park and on walks etc. you could really tell that she loves dogs and that she enjoys this work. We can't recommend her enough!
Normally our rescue Bella, who was abused when she was younger, is very shy and afraid with non-family members. However, not when Lauren come to the door- Bella is so excited, joyful and comfortable! Lauren has always been super caring and responsible, we even had her meet our handyman to explain a problem one time when she was watching Bella. We can go on vacation knowing Bella is being taken care of, loved and having a good time while we are away.

A typical day
I love to play with dogs, suiting their physical abilities, and enjoy taking them to dog parks and park trails. Rock Creek Park is one of my favorite spots for long walks. On a regular day, we go out three times and typically walk for 30-45 minutes.

I am a researcher for an NGO enjoying the benefits of working remotely. My office is based in Washington, DC but I have the availability to stay with your fuzzy friend all day if needed.
