Capable, Caring Dog Lover

Pet care experience

I spend as much of my time as possible working with dogs, and I can't wait to meet yours! Every dog has their own personality, and I've had experience working with all kinds of dogs in all kinds of situations through fostering and work at two local no-kill animal shelters (PAWS Chicago and One Tail at a Time) on top of regular dog-walking and dog sitting. I pay attention to each dog's unique communication and personality and to adapt my approach to what best fits them. I've worked with different behavioral issues and special needs dogs, and there is nothing more rewarding than seeing their sweet, unique personalities bloom when you show them patience and love. At PAWS, I was on the "TLC Team," socializing and caring for animals who have to be in isolation typically due to illness, so I'm acutely aware of how important it is to make sure dogs get enough love, attention, and care. I'm familiar with administering oral medication. I'm also experienced in working with fearful and stressed dogs and am committed to providing the patience and care they often need. My priority is keeping your dog healthy and happy, and that often means different things for different dogs. I love being able to customize services to meet specific needs! Maybe your dog can't go for long walks or just doesn't like to, but they still need love and attention and playtime while you're at work; I can do that! Bottom line: I'm down to get creative and find unique solutions that fit you and your doggo. My schedule tends to be very flexible with a fair amount of availability. Know that when I'm caring for your dog, they are my first priority. I want your pup to feel cozy and loved, and I'll do everything I can to make sure they're happy.

Once again Laura looked after our little dog for 5 days while we were away. We couldn’t have been more pleased with how the stay went. Levi is quite anxious, yet. he adjusted so well and had the best time. Laura is the most trustworthy and caring sitter for Levi and goes above and beyond to make sure he is happy and to update us on his progress each day. Thanks so much as always Laura! Levi can’t wait to see you again ?

Laura looked after our three year old pomchi Levi for ten days while we were on vacation. We have only just moved to America and this is the first time we had ever left Levi with anyone other than my parents. Levi was also struggling with some anxiety in the weeks before the trip. Laura was beyond fantastic the whole time. She is so knowledgeable about dogs and did so much to make sure Levi was comfortable and happy. She was incredibly patient and did a lot of training with him. He made excellent progress and by the end of the trip was sleeping in the bed with her, letting her give him massages and going on long walks exploring the area. Laura sent daily updates and was always happy to talk or text if I wanted. She is such a kind, trustworthy and caring person and I would recommend her to anyone, especially those who may have a more anxious dog! Thanks Laura, Levi will be so excited for your next stay ?

Information Laura W. would like to know about your pet

Tell me everything! I want to know as much as possible about your pup. In an initial request, I like to start off with - the dog's name and age - whether they're potty trained - an overall idea of what their needs will be during my time with them - any special requests or any conditions I should be aware of After we book and before my time with your dog starts, I like to know about - medical conditions, medications, allergies, or injuries - habits, schedules, and routines - favorite toys and activities - tricks or skills they're working on and your training methods for those things - fears or stressors - favorite snacks Etc. The more info, the better! I make sure to go over everything with you when we have a meet and greet so that I can take the best care possible of your dog. I love dogs of all breeds! I have a super special place in my heart for pit bulls and similar breeds, but I also adore tiny fluff balls, extra-big doggos and everything in between.

A typical day

Since every dog is their own, unique individual with likes and dislikes, I adapt to what'll make your dog the happiest. We can play at a dog park, go for walks, play indoor games, work on tricks and skills, or have chill time and snuggles on the couch. I am a sucker for a snuggler, so if your dog fits that label, I can promise you there will be no shortage of snuggling for them! Ultimately, my priority is your dog’s happiness, so we'll spend our time doing what makes them the happiest! If there's an activity your dog really enjoys that you want to make sure they'll get to do while they're with me, just send me a message and ask about it!
