Pet care experience
Hello everyone! My name is Laura and I recently graduated from Tulane University with a BS in Cell and Molecular Biology and am attending LSU School of Veterinary Medicine! I'm crazy about animals and have 2 border collies back home that I miss dearly while I'm away at school. I have been pet-sitting (and house-sitting) for 10+ years and have volunteered at my local animal shelter for a very long time! I ranked in the top 10 in my HS district's regional competition in veterinary medicine, interned for many summers with veterinarians at Austin Animal Center and Animal Medical Center, and have been certified in canine/feline CPR and First Aid. I love all animals, am an avid Crufts Dog Show fan, and rode on the Tulane Equestrian Team! I so look forward to making tons of new furry friends and will love your pets like they are my own!

I do like to know a pet’s energy level and temperament, just so I can make the experience as comfortable as possible for them. I have experience petsitting for shy and nervous dogs/cats, elderly dogs/cats, special needs pets, and mobility-impaired pets. Also, I'd like to know if the pet is allergic to anything! Safety comes first. Absolutely no breed preferences! Every animal gets my love :)
A typical day
I'm a big fan of tailoring each experience to the animal's unique personality, needs, and of course, the pet parents' wishes! I love taking high-energy dogs for jogs instead of walks, teaching basic commands through positive reinforcement to stimulate a pet's brain, and snuggling and cuddling all the sweet creatures. Whether your pet wants to lounge around all day or play non-stop, I'm here for it all!

Availability
I’m a student in veterinary school so weekdays can be fairly busy 8am - 5pm but otherwise I’ll have a fairly flexible schedule for taking care of your sweet pets! I understand some pets love to be around people at night and get nervous when alone, so I am happy to stay overnight if that would best help a pet feel comfortable when their owner is gone!
