I have cared for black labs, from 8 weeks until their passing at 15+ years, so I am experienced with all phases of a dog's life. For several years, I gave one of our dogs allergy shots (as a retired RN, I'm quite at ease with giving injections), and both of our dogs took various oral meds all their lives. Since I am retired, I can be very flexible. This includes staying with a dog for the entire time an owner is gone, if that is their wish. This hits close to home: as our girl grew older, she needed someone with her most of the time, and the sitters we hired took "staying with her" to mean checking in on her several times, but leaving her alone otherwise. We have nearly 4 acres, including woods, so lots of room to run. I also spent many years with our dogs on a nearby trail, about 4 miles round-trip, and would be happy to do it again with other dogs. Our house is very dog friendly- our dogs were allowed to run freely (once they were house-broken). My husband and I were an equal team raising our dogs, so if I keep them here, he will be able to help. We crated our 2nd pup, who loved it, but I can go either way. In my younger adult years, I did a lot of dog-sitting for family and friends in their homes and loved it! Good thing- it was before pet-sitting was "a thing", and I didn't get paid!
